MAME (Shield TV) Recommendations

With all the options for mame on android, which romset paired with which emulator do you guys recommend?

I'm still waiting for a stable version of MAME newer than 139 (mame2010 core in retroarch, mamereloaded).    The mamegit/mame2014 cores in retroarch are not entirely stable but they work for most games, if you have a new romset.    I am waiting for official mame release from mamedev (in the works).
