mattyb425 Posted August 17, 2016 Posted August 17, 2016 Hey Guys, Ive been trying to get pcsx2 up and running, but when I install it, and start going through the config. I run into a wall where its not recognizing spu2.dll the plugin is there, but it wont let me select it on order to configure. I have also tried downloading the standalone version of the plug in, and have also tried using p.e.op.s ps2 spu2 Dsound driver 1.3. Im running this on windows xp (x86) does anyone have any suggestions on a fix for this?
Creezz67 Posted August 17, 2016 Posted August 17, 2016 32 bit systems are not ideal for newer systems. try using a 64bit operating system as it works fine here, win7 64bit

mattyb425 Posted August 17, 2016 Author Posted August 17, 2016 Believe me, I know. This 32bit os has caused me more headaches than I would care to admit. However, Ive been able to get over all the speed bumps to this point. I have everything up to psx working fine, and upgrading the os just for this emulator just doesn't seem worth it at this point. Id at least like to explore every option before giving up on it.

It really isn't going to work - the emulator is coded against libraries that aren't available for Windows XP - it's that which is the problem. 32 Bit is fine, as long as it's Windows 7 or above. It's a great emulator and is capable of playing most PS2 games nicely. Just not on XP.
Guest Posted August 17, 2016 Posted August 17, 2016 So, using the latest versions of the emulator / plugin isn't going to work, for the reasons mentioned above. However, read here for a solution: http://forums.pcsx2.net/Thread-Unable-to-select-SPU2-plugin It's always a good tip to search the emulator forum / website for fixes.
mattyb425 Posted August 17, 2016 Author Posted August 17, 2016 Yea, I knew I was kind of pushing it. I just randomly decided to give it a shot last night. epsx runs great, so I thought I might be able to get away with it. I would at least like to try and get through the config part and see if im able to get it running at all. being stopped by an audio driver is just aggrevating lol

You need the specific XP version of the plugin to get it to work, which is in the link above. I'd seriously recommend updating to either Windows 7 or Windows 10. They will give you much better experiences across the board.
mattyb425 Posted August 17, 2016 Author Posted August 17, 2016 Thanks for the link, I will give it a shot when I get home later. Not going to go nuts if it doesn't work, I will upgrade at some point. Thanks
mattyb425 Posted August 17, 2016 Author Posted August 17, 2016 Sorry, I meant to say plugin, not driver. Thanks for your help though!!!!
rastan Posted August 17, 2016 Posted August 17, 2016 what kind of power do you have? because I'm running windows 7 on a i3.. i think a little over 2ghz and it took some tweaking to get GTA San Andreas to be playable.. other games were unplayable and beyond sluggish at best but I'm thinking I could have tweaked them like I did with GTA but I only really wanted GTA

I'm not super confident it will run well, but I was bored so I figured id give it a shot. currently I'm only running an intel core 2 duo at 3ghz. I'm going to do a serious urgrade in the next few years, so if it doesn't run at a playable level, I am perfectly fine waiting. it plays everything up to n64 and psx perfectly, so if those end up being the cap at which I can play for now, ill be fine with that. I'm still learning, ive only beenin the emulation scene for a few months, so even if I cant get the games to play, its still good learning experience getting it all setup

I will admit that i rarely even play the ps2 emulator anymore because I also have the PC version of GTA San Andreas.. you may want to get it as well if San Andreas is what you want.......... Have you tried running the PSP emulator?

Have you tried running the PSP emulator? So I was able to get the emulator configured. but now I'm kind of lost. I figured it would be like psx with .bin asd .cue files... how the hell do I run the friggin game once I unzip the file???? And to answer your question, can you even get the original san andreas for pc anymore? I thought they all switched over to what is basically the mobile port. if that's the case, I have no use for it lol

Have you tried running the PSP emulator? forget that last post, I figured it out. for some reason, when I unzipped the file I downloaded, it showed the .iso file as a WinRAR archive... but when I went to select iso, it let me select what was showing a zip file. Game played perfect on my setup!!! now I'm going to attempt to set it all up in rocketlauncher and hyperhq, I'm just hoping that the computer showing the iso as WinRAR doesn't conflict with RL
