5thWolf Posted September 5, 2016 Posted September 5, 2016 For those of you who love the project 64 emulator and don't already know, the devs have released a new version 2.3.210! Let me know what you guys think or of any major change you notice or major compatibility improvements. You can get it here for portable version. www.vgemu.com ~5thWolf~
rastan Posted September 5, 2016 Posted September 5, 2016 I remember downloading a new version but haven't even tried it out yet... I doubt they've updated again so I'm assuming this is the same one that was posted a little while ago.. I know there was talk of some NAG... and even simply austin was ranting about it. The version I have is a no nag version but still haven't tried it out. http://www.hyperspin-fe.com/topic/27572-project64-23/
5thWolf Posted September 5, 2016 Author Posted September 5, 2016 I had no issues with last version 2.2, i downloaded it from VGE with no installer (no adware or garbage from installer). The link that you showed people were getting it straight from dev, which normally is good but they had it bloated with adware. Dev got greedy i guess. With that said, It was a much better version at least for me and the games i had. Haven't tried this one yet, but will soon as i get home! ~5thWolf~

Haven't tried this one yet, but will soon as i get home! not sure if the issue was with stuff added by the installer (which they have been know to do) or actually part of the code itself... I think after you run the emulator a few times it gives a nag for donations or whatever. I actually haven't even got much into using n64 stuff since I wasn't happy with the emulators.. I was using a few and finally went back to pj64...
5thWolf Posted September 5, 2016 Author Posted September 5, 2016 Yeah... I didnt have naging for donations. As soon as i saw that from the version from devs site i deleted it and got version from VGE. It was just the emulator files with no nagging. ~5thWolf~
5thWolf Posted September 5, 2016 Author Posted September 5, 2016 Ok So I got to toy around with this and here is my findings. EMULATION Better and more accuracy. I noticed improvements on games like Golden eye, Cruisn games, and several more Worse or at least the same (I could be mistaken) Killer Instinct gold, 007 World not enough NAG It is still there (At least with this version) no install bloatware and so on. I haven't had too much time with it yet, but over all..... it feels a lot smother and more accurate with the games. ******I don't seem to have the option to manually change the aspect ratio. It could just be me, anyone else have this issue in this version? ~5thWolf~
rastan Posted September 6, 2016 Posted September 6, 2016 tried the no nag version.... haven't played it much but I assume the no nag has been removed (also heard you could just edit the count to -1 or something) the emulator seems better but all i played was one game... lol, any time I use a new emulator I think it's better for some reason. couldn't get it to play nice with RL/HS
JoyStickKilla Posted September 6, 2016 Posted September 6, 2016 Yea just open the cfg file and change count to -1. Unless they changed being able to do that. Or download the version from 64dd.org where they have it removed
rastan Posted September 6, 2016 Posted September 6, 2016 I can't get this version to work from RL....
Dabil Posted September 7, 2016 Posted September 7, 2016 The version from here.org seems to have a bugs. Whenever I hit the escape key the screen goes black and I can't get the emulator to quit. Also appears Super Mario 64 crashes. Trying alt-enter causes black screen as well. I only tried it on Windows 10, not going to risk it on my win 7 machine. Sent from my SM-G920V using Tapatalk
Dabil Posted September 7, 2016 Posted September 7, 2016 Sorry, 64dd.org. Also, If you are having problems with the new version working with rocketlauncher, download it from emucr.com, that is working perfectly for me. And I haven't seen a nag screen yet after several hours of play. Sent from my SM-G920V using Tapatalk

Suhrvivor Posted September 8, 2016 Posted September 8, 2016 Wow, I didn't know that emulator from a awful developer was still alive, I prefer Mupen64 plus or RetroArch but might give the portable version a try.I'm just waiting on Cen64 to get good, that emulator focusing in accuracy looks promising.
Dabil Posted September 8, 2016 Posted September 8, 2016 Before you get too excited about cen64, realize that there is no hardware currently in existence on the retail market that will be able to run it at full speed. It's a cycle accurate emu similar to bsnes. If the developer stays on this path, yes it will be incredibly compatible and accurate, but no, you won't be able to enjoy the games in anything more than a "passable" frame rated.
