think this might be in the wrong section as it is not hyperspin related. but im trying to put my cpu into an arcade cabinet. how do i set my bios so that when the power supply is turned on the CPU automatically starts instead of having to press the start button on the cpu. im using an ASUS motherboard.

the only solution i've found is

"After a little more digging, it turns out there is a setting in the BIOS.

Advanced -> APM -> Power on by RTC"

but it doesnt seem to work for me.

Power on by RTC isn't the right setting. RTC stands for real time clock.

Which motherboard do you have?

i can only recall it being a ASUS motherboard but not sure exactly which model

my bios screen looks something like this

It's impossible to help without knowing the model of the motherboard.

Couple of things - make sure you're looking at the advanced settings. A lot of motherboards have basic settings displayed initially.

The setting you're looking for will be called something like, "power loss", or "turn on after power loss". Most motherboards do have this option now.

My motherboard is a i3-6100 3.7 ghz 3mb lga1151 asus B150M-A D3 B150 LGA1151 mainboard

Ok, let me look into it for you.  Just to clarify, some of that info is actually the processor you have:

Processor - i3-6100 3.7 ghz 3mb lga1151

Motherboard - asus B150M-A D3 B150 LGA1151 mainboard

Ok, so the option you want is show on page 2-13 of the manual linked to above.

I've outlined it for you in the screenshot below:

Or maybe I got your intentions wrong. The screenshot is the same as what I'm looking at but I do not see a option to automatically turn on CPU when power is on without pressing physical start button

I all else fails, maybe buy/get another power button for the pc and hook that up to the MB instead of/like a case power button. Then get a master/slave power block with the pc as master. If you leave power on, on the block, turning on/off the pc will do this for the rest as well.

Don't know if that helps, but that's how have my normal pc set up. Turning it on/off will also power my monitors & audio system etc an/off. Convenient :)

So you don't see the option I've highlighted in the red box? Because that is the option that does what you want.

Actually, I see what you mean. That option is worded very badly. Let me check the manual again.

Unfortunately the manual for this board isn't very descriptive.

It should be there.  The only thing I can advice is to select 'Advanced' on the top bar, and work down through each settings category.  You're looking for a setting like 'Turn on after power loss'.

will all motherboards have this option?? i have that option you were mentioning but its either "normal boot or fast boot" which doesnt do what i want.

while googling i've seen a lot of people having this "problem" where their pc/laptops auto on before power button is pressed while im trying to get exactly what they have. >.<
