Demul not activating 2nd xbox360 controller

Hey guys

any reason why Demul won't recognize my 2nd Xbox 360 controller?

as pic shows, my paddemul is saving the config, I've set the padDemul to read only so I know it's saving, but in gameplay, dreamcast won't use the 2nd controller.

is there a setting inside Demul that needs to be dealt with?

joyo_0 is player one

and joyo_1 is player 2? I can see both configs in padDemul and everything looks correct.
