MAME games not loading properly

I'm using MAME073b emulator with the merged mame roms set. The games work in the emulator but when I load from HyperSpin it goes to the MAME emulator screen with all my games and they load fine from there. I have been messing with the xml database file I downloaded the one from HyperList and some load some don't. I used that list with Dons HyperSpin List Generator and removed duplicates. Now only a few games load others make the MAME emulator start with the list of roms. I looked in the xml and can see the game names are correct, what is causing this problem? When i put my original mame.xml list it works better but still some games won't load and I confirmed they are available. RocketLauncher sees all the games in green when I audit. This is driving me crazy.

Make sure the rom set you're using is the same version as the version of the emulator. You'll probably need to set LegacyMode to true in the MAME module settings in RLUI since you're using an ancient MAME version. You'll also need to make sure that you have Skip Checks set to Rom Only which is advised anyway but even more important since you're using a merged set. Since your MAME build is so old you're going to run into issues with any databases you find here as many rom names have likely changed.

Latest version is 0.179, your romset is easily a decade old

Thanks all, I was actually using .179 roms and an older emulator however I ended up getting both packages again anyway. What really fixed the problem was changing the checks setting in RocketLauncher to skip rom extensions - all games working.
