rastan Posted November 24, 2016 Posted November 24, 2016 When I first heard about the retro-gimmicky Mini NES.. like many I laughed at the 30 games pre-installed and basically dismissed it as something for nostalgia and people that clearly haven't been into the emulation scene. Reading all these reports about it being sold out and people wanting them got me to thinking why not add a NES Mini wheel... just for the fun of it but as I researched the 30 games that were on this thing.. it got me thinking.. perhaps I was wrong about it's concept. For the most part.. people that I knew only had a handful of games for their NES and probably started trading for other games and never really had an entire NES collection. the 30 games they picked seem to be classics and games that still remain enjoyable as well as look the same as I remember them.. unlike tons of crap that just looks and plays bad 30 years later. Here are the 30 games (list only) Balloon Fight Bubble Bobble Castlevania Castlevania II: Simon's Quest Donkey Kong Donkey Kong Jr. Double Dragon II: The Revenge Dr. Mario Excitebike Final Fantasy Galaga Ghosts'n Goblins Gradius Ice Climber Kid Icarus Kirby's Adventure Mario Bros. Mega Man 2 Metroid Ninja Gaiden Pac-Man Punch-Out! Featuring Mr. Dream StarTropics Super C Super Mario Bros. Super Mario Bros. 2 Super Mario Bros. 3 Tecmo Bowl The Legend of Zelda Zelda II: The Adventure of Link For my taste I added 3 more games, Donkey Kong 3, and Goonies & Goonies II. Basically just added Mini NES as a system to my hyperspin.. set the emulator as Nestopia, copied the games from my NES folder to Mini NES folder.. copied the images to the new system images and set the videos to my NES videos. I downloaded a image of the NES mimi and used that as a wheel. These themes worked out for me. Used this for the main menu: Used this for the default system theme: I used this trailer for the main menu video: Adding it as a wheel definitely has got me more interested in actually playing the games..
SkyHighGam3r Posted December 5, 2016 Posted December 5, 2016 While I'm particularly hateful of the NES mini, I am all about people getting creative with system wheels!
Suhrvivor Posted December 6, 2016 Posted December 6, 2016 Cool idea, to make it great it should have a custom theme showing the actual console, a system video showing the available games and maybe make the browsing of games look just like the menu of the Mini Nes, not sure if that last thing is possible though. Maybe I will look into making a theme for it, and later figure out how to make the wheel look and feel as the console.
