l0cut15 Posted December 1, 2016 Posted December 1, 2016 Post #1 I've spend a day on youtube. Stuck. Im trying to setup hyperspin 1.4 and rocketlancher for mame games in my cabinet. I have rlancher installed in its own directory I have hyperspin 1.4 installed in its own directory I have emulators nested under hyperspin. I've updated all of the roms paths in both HSHQ and rocketlaucher. I can launch games from rlancher but when I run hyperspin there are no games in the mame wheel. I've missed a step I think. how does rlancher send its list of games to the Hyperspin GUI? Thanks Brett
l0cut15 Posted December 1, 2016 Author Posted December 1, 2016 Thank you agent47. This seems to be the step I've miss;ed. Is the xlm dynamically created ( eg: mame -listxml) or do I need to download a prebuilt database? thanks.
adamg Posted December 1, 2016 Posted December 1, 2016 Here is the one from hyperlisy http://hyperlist.hyperspin-fe.com/genall.php?system=6 Just add it to the MAME folder located in the HyperSpin\databases\MAME folder.
l0cut15 Posted December 1, 2016 Author Posted December 1, 2016 I'm still missing something. Ive copied the XLM file to h:\hs\database\mame\mame.xml On loading the hyperspin FE, I can select mame but there is no content on that wheel.

When you say "No content" is the wheel blank or does it list the game names? Can you screen shot what you have when you go into the MAME wheel in HS? Also Agent has a good point about wheel filters in HyperHQ.
l0cut15 Posted December 1, 2016 Author Posted December 1, 2016 Ok almost there I think. I added extensions to the wheel. It now populates, thanks again Agent47. But launching a game gives me an error. I installed the database under my Hyperspin directory, it looks like rocketlaucher is expecting a local copy. Should I duplicate the database or is there a way of pointing rlancher at the original copy?
l0cut15 Posted December 1, 2016 Author Posted December 1, 2016 Awesome, working! Never would have found that on my own. I'm converting a 10 year old cabinet based on Windows XP and MameWah to a modern computer. Hyperspin seemed overwhelming to me at first. What a great community, friendly and engaged. Good to meet you. Thanks for the help, Brett
