phantasy Posted December 2, 2016 Posted December 2, 2016 Does anyone remember the pressure sensitive button version of the 1987 original? I saw it once in an arcade and it drew so much attention as people would pound their fists on these coffee coaster sized mushroom buttons to try to get a stronger punch or kick- it was so loud and always turned other gamers' heads thinking a real fight broke out... is that what MAME calls the "pneumatic buttons" version? https://kotaku.com/5787456/lets-talk-about-the-very-first-street-fighter "Things were even weirder if you were playing the other version of the game. The original arcade edition of Street Fighter shipped in two variants: one with the six-button layout and one that featured two pressure-sensitive rubber "pads". These pads would measure how hard you whacked them to determine the strength of your attack; hit them hard and Ryu would perform a heavy attack, etc. " The web seems so quiet on this game. Only picture I can find is the low res one here: http://www.arcade-museum.com/game_detail.php?game_id=9803 I think it went away quickly for the regular 6 button version- I suspect the pads broke quickly from teens smacking them like you would a hammer and bell game at a county fair.
