Joystick not working

Hi guys.  I am in the process of redoing my setup because of a failed drive.  I am having trouble getting my joystick working in HyperSpin.  I had it working before somehow, so I know it's possible.  It is working in Windows and also working in the emulators.  It is also recognized in HyperHQ no problem.  When I launch HyperSpin my log shows "Error intializing joysticks".  I will try to list my specs, but if more info is needed, I'll be happy to give it.  Thanks!

Just a quick update.  I have been messing with this trying to figure out why it's not working.  I did find something interesting.  My joystick allows me to skip the intro video but then allows no control after that.  This leads me to believe that HyperSpin at least recognizes it to some degree.  Anyway, any suggestions would be much appreciated.  Thanks

You need to make sure that your joysticks, trackballs and spinners are all disabled in HyperHQ. They do not work in Hyperspin.

Then use a program to re-map them to keyboard inputs that work, such as Joy-to-key etc...

Thanks for the reply Metalzoic.  Did joystick support get broken in an update or something?  I did have it working perfectly on my old setup.  Ill look into an alternative.  Thanks

It's been that way since I started with Hyperspin a year and a half ago or so.

I don't have any firsthand knowledge of it as I use an iPac encoder, but it comes up on here all the time.

According to the changelog a Joystick fix was added in version 1.4.09 and additional joystick changes were added in 1.4.11. At the time of this writing HS is at 1.4.16. That being said, I am getting "Error intializing joysticks" in the log.txt file (Initializing is misspelled in the log file btw). I've tried running HS in admin mode and am trying various ways of plugging in the joysticks to see if that helps resolve the problem. 

 

I have setup JoyToKey and I went through the JoyToKey setup tutorial which is really nice, but am having problems going that route and that solution seems overly complex.

There are a few tutorial topics on here to work around it if you search. May be easier to search this site through google as the built in search sucks nads.
