Hyperspin Wheel Crash (Black Screen)

I've setup Hyperspin 1.4 and RocketLauncher on a USB 1TB hard-drive. I followed the Simply Austin video.  The drive has been identified as Q:\.  All files are on this drive. Q:\Hyperspin\ Q:\RocketLauncher\ Q:\ROMS\MAME\)

All the configuration has been performed using my Windows 10 desktop.  Only MAME has been finalized.  The filter ROMS only is set to true, i have ROMs in the defined ROM folder (Q:\ROMS\MAME\).

When I run Hyperspin on the desktop I am able to load Hyperspin, select the system wheels (Atari, Sega, Mame, etc).  When the Mame wheel is selected, I am able to see the applicable ROMS that are in the ROM folder.  The wheel art and videos all function properly.  I am able to access all the ROMS.  Everything runs perfectly.

When I connect the HDD to my laptop (for my arcade cabinet) thing do not work so good.  The laptop is running Windows 10  (I have also tried on a Windows Vista Laptop).  The HDD is identified as Q:\ for the laptops the same as the desktop.  Hyperspin loads up just fine.  The non-mame wheels open and close just fine (going back and forth between the main wheel and the different systems).  When I select the Mame wheel the screen goes black.  I have to hit CTRL-ALT-DLT to access the task manager and shut it down.

I have seen several Black screen support requests threads and tried applying the feedback without success.

 Any help is greatly appreciated.

Thanks Gigapig.  That did the trick.

On the Window10 Laptop, I changed ROM filter to false..  The freeze condition fixed..  Then changed back to ROM filter back to true..  and the filtered wheel worked.  With the Vista laptop (laptop in the arcade cabinet)..  I switched ROM filter false..  the freeze condition fixed..  switching back to true on the ROM filter resumed the freeze condition. ..

Its strange..  I do have the path defined in the MAME.ini..

I've read in the forums about Don's Tools..  I expect this will create an XML that only has the ROMS i have in the defined directory..   Ideally I don't want to do this, but it looks like I don't have a choice.

Thanks for the help!
