Should I downgrade OS?

Hello sorry if this is the wrong section but I need help. Currently running a cabinet with Hyperspin, Rocketlauncher, LEDBlinky, ect on a custom built windows 10 pc. I managed to get all emulators and games running minus a couple systems I'm still working out. The problem is the more I do I find I'm running into issues that having windows 10 doesn't seem to be helping.

The first and biggest issue is I got Windows 10 Pro edition so I could use group policy editor to boot straight into Hyperspin. Well as of some update last year they have removed that feature to only work in Enterprise or education edition. That is a bummer because now I'm forced to have a task on startup to boot hyperspin. This causes an issue now because even with a delay on the task something is stealing focus (ledblinky, steam?) from Hyperspin and I'm forced to pull out a wireless mouse and left click to regain focus of hyperspin (not good).

Also it took forever to get to get daemon tools to work with most of emulators (some still not working) within rocketlauncher. All post suggest windows 10 being the issue.  Not to mention all the issues with HyperHQ crashing when doing wheel settings and other smaller issues.

Is it worth buying windows 7 and setting everything back up? Should I ditch hyperspin for a more windows 10 friendly option (dont think there is one)? Is there a fix to the boot into Hyperspin focus issue? Any suggestions would be appreciated.

You shouldn't really need DT for anything except some edge cases where specific games require it. The main/only reason it was required before was SSF but now that mednafen has implemented Saturn it's not really needed. That being said I never had any issues with DT on 10.

Thank you. Seems reading post from 2-3 years ago and trying to piece it together when setting up systems it not the best idea. Ill go back and remove all the crazy stuff I did.

Do you have a windows 10 system that you boot straight to hyperspin by any chance?

Yep - pro windows allows direct boot to HyperSpin through group policy.

Sounds like I'm the only one not able to boot to hyperspin. I open the group policy editor and get to the custom ui options. I enable it and set my hyperspin.exe file directory. I restart and windows loads up normally Hyperspin never starts. Maybe I should make a new topic to help troubleshoot my issue with this. Its the main reason I was considering dropping Windows 10 on my cabinet.

If you're ok with your desktop showing for a brief time, you might consider giving Tur-Another Idle Volume Adjuster a shot. It'll let you launch HS with a delay, which gets away from the steam focus issue. Then you have the added bonus of being able to adjust volume with buttons. :)

You must have the home version of Windows. That would be the only reason the group policy wouldn't work.

As mentioned, in my post and the group policy explanation text - you must have Professional version of windows or above.

Also, just checking here - you need the full path to the HyperSpin exe, not just the folder. e.g. C:\HyperSpin\HyperSpin.exe

Thanks guys. After reading your replies I went back and tried the group policy editor. I noticed hyperspin was set to run as administrator. I unchecked the box and tried the group policy editor again and it works! Fixed the losing focus issue as well.
