RetroArch Headache

Hey guys,

So I have been having an issue setting the controls correctly with RetroArch. I have searched across this site and others for answers and haven't had any luck, or at least haven't found an answer that I can understand.  I have a basic set up using an Ipac mini connected to my control panel. My problem is thaT I'll boot up hyper spin. I'll go into a system ( for example NES) and then into a game on that system, open the RetroArch interface and then bind the buttons and joystick to the right controls. I'll get out of the interface and it will work perfectly for all the games on that system going forward.

But then when I go into another system (for example SNES) open another game, go into the interface try to bind the controls to the same joystick and buttons I get out and it won't work at all. Basically I feel like its telling me that I can only use one keyboard button per system. like if I'm using the right arrow key to move right on NES I can not use the right arrow key in any other system in retro arch. I'm sure this is just a newb question and I just have a couple of my settings wrong but it's been super frustrating. I included a couple of pictures hoping that my help shed some light on what I'm doing wrong.  If you can help that would be great, but please feel free to talk to me like the newb I am. I inherited this machine from a friend and Im a dummy when it comes to this sort of thing.

Thanks

I would ask your "Friend" to update your RetroArch to 1.4.1 as that interface is very old now, but it does have the same options.

I have a feeling you need to change the "RetroPad" setting to something else (Retro keyboard) under device type, but if "none" is all there is I guess it's correct.

Also did your friend set a config per system? Some people here with ipacs have edited the configs manually, could you copy and paste from your working config?

Have a look here also.

Here's the new interface with my Ultrastik settings.

Thanks for the reply.

Under "device type" the only options are SNES Joypad, SNES Mouse and none.

Mom not sure if he set up the config per system or not. How would I find out?

also, where do I find the working config? I'll copy and paste it if you can direct me there.

Thanks again man.

SNES Joypad would be correct as that is what the core will use. Configs are in the config folder and if you have them they should be named the same as the system you are running so in this case Super Nintendo Entertainment System.
