Back at it again... Help upgrading old Hyperspin and secondary ShieldTV build

So many moons ago I did a hyperspin build and it has served me well (with the exception of windows defender trying to delete the hyperspin.exe on me for some odd reason). But I had been gaming less and less and my collection has become a bit neglected. Orginally I had my main archive stored on a drive, a Build for my homebuilt arcade cabinet (x-arcade control) and a build for my HTPC (360 / XBONE controller).

Now, I no longer use an HTPC but an Nvidia Shield TV.

I decided it was time to move the hyperspin build to my main gaming rig and upgrade it, with the intention of later copying the contents to an external drive that will plug in to my Shield and I will setup everything for that.

It's been a very long time though, and I'm severely outdated. I remember this being a huge undertaking the last time lol so I was poking around the forums and have started to try and play catchup. But I'd like to see if anyone has any links to good "complete" guides on upgrading like I need to. As I said once upgraded and working i'll then move on to phase two which is getting this working for the shield TV.

Great to see someone "upgrade" to the Shield.

so are you planning on having one Hyperspin install running on a PC and a Shield?

i would urge you to run 2 setups if you have the space and a little extra time. It's a lot cleaner and it gives the most flexibility as a fair few options and themes don't work on android that do on PC.

as to the upgrade tutorial I doubt you will get anything good enough. You will probably be best off following Avar's setup videos from scratch. Use what roms, media and emulator setups you can. Upgrade to rocket launcher.

take what you setup on PC and transfer the media to a seperate install for the shield. Grab Reznates Android settings and the ones in my Android Base Pack.

shout if you have Android issues I'm Slowly getting better at it now

Yes planning on having two separate installs.

Master install on gaming rig (4TB WD Black)

Separate install for shield (2TB 2.5" USB HDD) This will be the cut down version but obviously still hold a lot. I'll more than likely setup a gamestream shortcut to do Dolphin and CemU

Main shelved backup 5TB HDD (but sadly this is holding me back majorly it is slooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooow, so might have to change it out)

oh and still running the arcade build... forgot about that one lol...damn...

I assumed I would have to upgrade from 1.2 to 1.3.3 to get it working on the shield correct? I remember a long time ago, and again in recent searching some sort of conversion tool for upgrading? I wasn't sure if I could just dump the new files over top of my 1.2 install to upgrade but try to keep any database files and that is what the upgrade tool did or?

Good to know on the themes, didn't see that yet. Are the Gameplay vids working seems like a few I have seen when people are in the system and going through games the gameplay videos aren't working.

I have no decent knowledge of PC setups to be fair.

android wise you should be able to just dump your existing setup on the drive.

you only need get a new set of settings files that you input the rompaths and launch commands for the android emulators.

depending on the games/systems you have, some may need different types of roms to be compatible with the emulators
