Weird mame issue..

Pulling my hair out...

I've setup up mame about 400 times.  All of a sudden (mameuifx 0.172) crashes every time I load a rom.

ive downloaded a new fresh version of it, and the same thing happens in windows 10..just get an error saying (mame has crashed), extremely frustrating.

now if I update my rom set, how does the "new" mame arcade install work off the site?  I had a quick look and it seems like it's just the .exe? Am I right?

if so, what about All the sub folders inside the older mameuifx (glsl/config/shaders/etc?). How do I go about setting it up and creating all the older folder structures?

very frustrated with mame just crashing on me overnight it seems.  Mameuifx has always been super solid for me.

any help or insight would be great!
