Kremlar
Hi - Sorry for the (probably) newbie question but I am, of course, a newbie. Just getting Hyperspin/RocketLauncher/MAME working here. Followed some tutorials and things are going well so far. However, I'm not able to control the HyperSpin menus with my arcade control sticks (custom made for me a while back and connect via USB). They configure and work fine in MAME. I've launched HyperHQ and enable Joystick control in the menus. It detects the ID correctly, and even detects the controller presses correctly. But when I actually launch HyperSpin the only thing I can do with my arcade stick is press a button to skip the intro. Once the menu appears the controller does not work at all. I've read some discussions where some people use Xpadder, but it seems like my arcade controls should work without it since HyperHQ detects the controls without issue. Can anyone point me in the right direction? Thanks so much in advance.
Metalzoic
Joysticks do not work in HS (I thought the tutorials were updated with this info?). You need to keep joysticks, trackballs & spinners disabled in HyperHQ. Since you aren't using a keyboard encoder you'll then need to use Joy2Key (or something similar) to make your joystick work. The Joy2Key tutorial is in the tutorial section with the rest.
rynoman03
Oh wow, didn't know this. I'll disable mine. I would also suggest using the startup script. Sent via cellular communication.
Kremlar
Thank you so much! I saw reference to the Startup Script in some tutorials but I did not realize it helped with the joystick controls. When I saw the option to enable sticks on HyperHQ I just assumed it should work. I did have to edit the ini file and put in Joy1 for Joystick_Start for some reason (would have thought that would be in there by default). On to the next problem!
