lmsilva Posted April 11, 2014 Posted April 11, 2014 Dear all, I finally managed to get Zinc to work (man...what a battle that was!) but I'm now having graphics issues with SOME games (e.g. aqua rush). Check this video out: Do you see what happens at 15s? That's pretty much how I see the whole game. I also have similar problems with other games like Cool Boarders, where some layers / tiles in the game seem to be missing. Any thoughts on how to fix this? Is it just an emulation issue? (the best that the emulator can play the rom) OR, is it a configuration problem? Thanks, Luis
lmsilva Posted April 11, 2014 Author Posted April 11, 2014 By the way, here's my graphics card: http://www.amazon.com/EVGA-02G-P3-2639-KR-GeForce-2048MB-Graphics/dp/B008Y8PON8/ref=sr_1_1?s=electronics&ie=UTF8&qid=1397248361&sr=1-1&keywords=EVGA+02G-P3-2639-KR+GeForce+GT+630+2048MB+GDDR3%2C+DVI+and+HDMI+Graphics+Card And here is my renderer.cfg: ;Created with Aldo's ZiNc Front End 4/1/2014 10:51:39 PM XSize = 1280 YSize = 1024 FullScreen = 1 ColorDepth = 32 ScanLines = 0 Blending = 0 Dithering = 0 ShowFPS = 0 FrameLimitation = 1 FrameSkipping = 0 FramerateDetection = 1 Filtering = 0 TextureCaching = 2 TextureType = 3 TurnDisplay = 0 Thanks, Luis
cowbells Posted April 11, 2014 Posted April 11, 2014 I thought that all the Zinc games were now playable in MAME. Can someone confirm this? And while we are at it, what all emus do you guys use for arcade games? Right now, I just use MAME, Daphne, Dice, and AAE. Still haven't gotten into Taito Type X or Triforce (mainly due to the fact that I need a better PC). How about Model 2 and 3? Does MAME cover these as well? It's been awhile since I've done anything to my arcade wheels.
zerojay Posted April 11, 2014 Posted April 11, 2014 MAME handles everything Zinc does just fine in my experience. Same for AAE. Model 2 and 3, not so much.

I really like AAE, though I've heard there is a way to duplicate this effect with MAME, I just haven't messed with it. If you ever get the chance to play any of these vector games on a real vector monitor, they are even better than any emulator can capture, believe me. Asteroids is straight up hypnotic. I actually picked this arcade up from a guy near me that claimed he at one point held the world record with Twin Galaxies and he did it on the machine he sold me! How cool is that? I still want to find/play/buy an original Black Widow. That one is my favorite. Also, last time I screwed with Model 2 & 3, I ended up screwing it up somehow haha. I just took them off and never got back to them. I should look into putting these back on.
lmsilva Posted April 12, 2014 Author Posted April 12, 2014 Do games like Aqua Rush play fine there?? I'm simply using Zinc because I downloaded an emulator pack that used it... And now that I managed to "make it work", I would actually like to stick with it heheh (just wanted to try and solve the graphics issue I'm having)!
cowbells Posted April 14, 2014 Posted April 14, 2014 Just played Aqua Rush in MAME, no problems here.
lmsilva Posted April 16, 2014 Author Posted April 16, 2014 Do you have a tutorial on how to setup MAME for Zinc games?
