Scanlines not working when Mame lauched via Hyperspin (not HLSL or GLSL)

Hi All I hope you can help.

I'm having some issues getting mame (uifx 153) to launch with scanlines, they work fine when launch from mame but not when using hyperspin Mame games look different, it appears that hyperspin isn't using the mame.ini.

*Please not this is just the scanline artwork and not HLSL or GLSL as my rig is not capable of running these modes.

Thanks in advance for any guidance you can offer.

HyperSpin doesn't use any ini's or control any emulator settings. It's just the front end. Maybe it's conflicting somehow though?

Are you using RocketLauncher? Do you have more than one version of MAME on your system, and if so is HS or RL actually using the wrong MAME exe?

Hi Metalzoic, thanks for your response.

Sorry my bad i should said rocket launcher doesn't load it as Mame does.

No i only have one version of Mame and Rocket Launcher is configure to use that version, it just seems to ignore the effect i have set.

Below are all relevant screen grabs, to show you configuration.

Thanks for your help

You're running MAME 153 with 153 roms? That is a pretty old version (almost 3 years now?) and I believe the RL module for MAME is for much newer versions and later. If the folder structure in MAME has changed since 153 then maybe that is the issue.

What's your ini structure? Do you just have a MAME.ini or are do you have them tiered with horizont.ini, vertical.ini, vector.ini, HLSL.ini etc...

Hi Metalzoic,

i upgraded to 166 with No Nag and all now seems fine, yes i think you were right was an old version causing the issue.

What version would you recommend, the reason i only went to 166 is because my roms all seem to still work with that version, without a need to upgrade them.

If you're going to upgrade then no reason not to go with the latest version, Arcade64 is the spiritual successor to UiFX. So I say get the latest version of Arcade64 from here, with Phulsophs latest official database for it from here, and yes you must update all your roms and CHDs too.

That's what I would do if I had to upgrade. Personally I'm still running 175 the final UiFX build.
