Hello friends,

I have hyperspin setup and i would like to configure it to launch in XBMC, anyone got this setup working that can assist ?

I am aware i might have to use Advanced Launcher but cant find a new updated tutorial.

Any help would be appreciated.

For xbmc themes I use Aeon Nox or Aeon MQ2.

I then use advanced launcher to start my hyperspin.exe process

I favorite the hyperspin advanced launcher menu item.

In my skin options I add a main menu item named games.

For the games main menu item action I select from a list of favorites the hyperspin advanced launcher menu item.

I know this isn't very specific but it should get you started in the right direction.

Hi Mate,

Thanks for your response... im using Aeon Nox also.....

I have installed Advanced Launcher already but when i tried to create a link to the exe, i can see there are some options i am not sure of... for example there is like 6 options before you even create the link one says... Create a link to a Emulation software (or something like that) then other says Direct to executable etc..etc.

I have tried a couple and even when i create link i launch the profile and i noticed a maaaaaaaasive lag in Hyperspin on startup... the intro video is extremely choppy and the wheel is also very choppy.

If i run it direct from Windows it runs very quick... so i guess something is wrong, not sure what thou.

If you can give a more specific walkthrough or a diy tutorial, your gonna be my best mate... :)

Hey MitchM,

If you are using Aeon Nox or Ace run advanced launcher.

You may see the words default and "...." select default

Right click and select add new Launcher

Select normal executable

Find where your Hyperspin.exe file is

Select it

Go through the other options of setting fanart locations when prompted, it doesn't really matter

Now you should see Hyperspin.exe in your Default folder in advanced launcer

Right click and favorite it

Now go to your Main Menu Customization settings and create a favorite node

Create a path to your now favorited "Hyperspin.exe"

You should now be able to run hyperspin from XBMC

As for the lag when both are open. That could be the fact that you are running a slow processor/low on memory/or have to many programs on at once. But that is another issue entirely. Hope this works and helps.

All good... for some reason when you run hyperspin from advanced launcher direct it severly lags.. not sure why.. but if you launch hyperspin via a favorite it runs flawless... cheers for the tut.. :)

Hello, where is the Main Menu Customization settings and what does it do? I was able to put Hyperspin.exe to my Favorites but I would like to have it where the main titles are Ex: Favorites, Video, Music...etc.

Thanks.

This can all be achieved with a batch script. I'll upload mine to my folder on the FTP. Use the batch script as the executable when setting up a launcher in advanced launcher. HyperSpin will open on launch and xbmc will reopen wish HS is closed. Works a treat - just change the paths in the script to suit.

I'll also upload my HyperSpin kill script as HS doesn't always close properly; it leaves a process running. Use this alongside the script above. Set the kill script to run on close of HS by setting the appropriate setting in HSHQ.

Ok everything that is needed to create a launcher in xbmc using Advanced Launcher to load HyperSpin and then return to xbmc when its closed is now in my FTP folder under 'XBMC Scripts'.

Also chucked in a _README file when some instructions. It's a doddle and works a treat.

I couldnt hide a batch script window in windows without some extra tools ;)

Advanced Launcher will hide it for you. I don't see it at all.

Tones thanks so much man!!

No worries dude. It's not a complex script once it's created but took me a bit of working out so nice to share!

Updated the _README file to make mention of the fact that you have to agree to PSTools terms on first launch. This only appears once.

PSTools btw are the command line utilities that let the script do what it needs to. Check the _README for me info.

Ahh youre using pstools! Maybe ill take look, but when your in hyperspin and exit to get back to xbmc..hows advlauncher taking care of that, because xbmc is closed? Offcourse i do have bats converted to exe's for hiding purposes, but I prefer staying at one tool (ahk), but i also do enjoy looking at solutions from others, like yours. Comming from a linux xbmc build ive been thinkering with this kind of stuff the past few days like shelling and scripts to make the experience seamless for when i have people over to play.

The script stays running throughout, therefore it's hidden throughout. It launches HyperSpin then sits and listens for the process closing. It then reopens xbmc and closes itself. I use it everyday to get what your after.

This along with a decent xbmc theme, I use 1080fx on kodi 14 (new name for xbmc), and a custom games button set will give a lovely setup.

I was just reading your README about the proces listening. Nice.

Using 13.2 Gotham with Aeon MQ5. Still not migrating to Kodi 14.0 because ive have multiple instances of 13.2 running on different platforms with a shared db on my nas

Sweet Aeon MQ5 is nice. The 1080FX theme I use is based on xpericence1080, which is a Gotham theme. Well worth a look in.

Whenever a skin is wife/girlfriend proof I'll stick with it ;)

Anymore scripts on your setup i should look into?

Offtopic: windows8 doesnt read my cpu temp in xbmc in syteminfo. No problem with linux because it just reads a file. Guess ill need an addon/tool like speedfan.

That's the only script I use really, apart from a similar script which opens Steam. Did you have any thoughts on something you wanted?

Yeah I've never had temps working either. Something like speedfan could work. Just need something that will give xbmc the data it wants.
