The HyperSpin 2 early access beta is here!

We’re starting the first public testing phase with Platinum Members to keep the scope manageable while we test the current feature set and begin to add more. In the future, we’ll provide a version for basic members as well.  On behalf of the entire HyperSpin team, we look forward to another exciting adventure with our community.

Hi there,

Is there any manual where I can get more information on how the downloadable artwork works? Specifically, I would like to know WHERE should I install / HOW should I setup / WHERE can I see their effects:

- 2D / 3D cartpacks (e.g. Super Nintendo - 2D cart pack 1.4)

- 2D / 3D boxpacks (e.g. Super Nintendo - 2D Box Pack 1.4)

- Letter packs (e.g. Super Nintendo Letter Pack 20100310)

Thanks in advance for any support

All hyperspin media will go into the hyperspin/media/(system specific ie. Super Nintendo Entertainment System)/images/

In your case it's Super Nintendo, so inside the snes folder you will find a folder named letters, place the letters in there.

Box art and Cart art will go inside the artwork1, artwork2, artwork3, or artwork4.

Which of those folders to place it in is dependent on the theme and may require some trial and error to determine what looks best in your opinion and not all themes will use all 4 of the folders, from experience most themes use 3 and 4 for box art and Cart art. A good rule of thumb is to think of it as layers, artwork1 will always be furthest back with 2, 3, and finally 4, closest and over top of everything else.

Hope that helps and feel free to ask any other questions

Thanks Battledonkey!

So this is used by the themes! It's a shame that they don't specify where those artworks should be placed (a simple TXT file would help a great deal...). I'll do some trial-and-error here.

Best regards!

If you open the theme file itself, hyperspin/media/(specific system)/themes/default.zip then you can open the theme.txt file with a text editor like notepad. Those are basically the instructions of how and where the theme will display which artwork. So you can look inside and see which artwork folders it will be pulling artwork from. Also you can edit the coordinates to change the location of the screen they are on, angle, and also a few characteristics of the art, such as spin, and how it displays whether it slides in, falls in, bounces etc. But I'm not familiar with all the different options and have only learned what's possible by looking at different themes and playing around with the values and changing them around
