Does anyone have any info on setting the Xbox One controller up for MAME?

Like:

-Rotary (Analog joystick?) or just use the joystick hack of the rom?

-trackball

Also is it better to convert my xinput to keyboard key inputs?

First time i am gonna setup my controls so any tips or even a pregonfigured file would be great.
