drummer_god Posted May 22, 2017 Posted May 22, 2017 OK, I downloaded your version of "Hella old". I changed all the & to and. Going to try it and I'll let you know. Fingers crossed that this solves the issue.
drummer_god Posted May 22, 2017 Posted May 22, 2017 No luck...I appreciate all your help today. Now I know the image files are not the problem or the xml file.
Avar Posted May 22, 2017 Posted May 22, 2017 Yeh sorry it's not fixed. I suspect updating would fix it but that's a lot to download since it's been so long.
drummer_god Posted May 22, 2017 Posted May 22, 2017 Turns out my hyperspin is actually 0.8.0.0 not 0.3.0.0 ( hard to differentiate between a 3 and an 8 on a CRT arcade display) I found a disc which I had saved hyperspin onto way way back ( back when I first learned of hyperspin long before this disappearing wheel art problem or computer corruption) , and I downloaded it onto my new windows10 laptop. Then, I tried putting your new 'Hella old' xml into the database/mame folder and tried running hyperspin to see what would happen, and the ninja turtles wheel art disappeared after one spin around the wheel. So, it's not the computer, its not the xml, and it's not the. Png art file.
Avar Posted May 22, 2017 Posted May 22, 2017 Hmm maybe try HS1.3.3 on a backup. I think it'll still work with everything you got goin on there.
drummer_god Posted May 22, 2017 Posted May 22, 2017 The guy from the computer store where I bought my windows 10 laptop, was familiar with hyperspin so installed his build onto my laptop so I could see how his various system wheels work ( as I only use mame, not snes, nes, Sega, etc) I just checked, and it is version 1.3.2., so I'm in the process of installing that onto my turtles arcade. I'll configure it with my emulator, roms and artwork and see if this version of hyperspin has the same disappearing wheel art problem. If not, then it will replace my old 0.8.0.0 version.
drummer_god Posted May 22, 2017 Posted May 22, 2017 So I transferred the hyperspin 1.3.2 folder to the desktop on my windows7 arcade computer. When I start this new hyperspin, it says: unable to locate playstation.xml and doesn't do anything. I changed hyperHQ to a single wheel of only mame, so I'm not sure why the Playstation xml file is even needed (even though it is listed in the database folder)? Everything is set the same on my laptop where it works fine. I give up.
Kondorito Posted May 22, 2017 Posted May 22, 2017 2 hours ago, drummer_god said: Mame, nes, Snes, n64. That is strange. Somewhere must be setup to look for the psx one. Thinking out loud a work-around; have you tried renaming the MAME.xml to the XML name that HS is trying to find? I know that it is not the best way, but other than regenerating the entire HS main folder and adding the systems again, I do not know.
drummer_god Posted May 22, 2017 Posted May 22, 2017 OK, so after a 'break' to cut the lawn, I gave this another shot: I managed to get hyperspin 1.3.2. On my turtles computer to stop with the playstation xml message - it seems it doesn't like when I set hyperHQ to single wheel mame only. It is now multi wheel. So, now I have wheel art ( tmnt wheel art doesn't disappear!!! ) and music but no background art, videos or that stuff. Just a black screen with wheel art and hyperspin stuf fon the bottom saying free play. In my media/mame folder, I have the necessary folders for image, sound, themes, and video. Not sure why it is able to find and show the wheel art and sound but not the videos or images in artwork1-4, background, etc?
drummer_god Posted May 22, 2017 Posted May 22, 2017 do you want me to try that .png image in the wheel art folder of my original hyperspin 0.8.0.0 build? edit - I tried it in the above scenario, and it disappeared just as before.
Avar Posted May 22, 2017 Posted May 22, 2017 What are your optimizer settings like in HyperHQ? Only other thing I can think of would be reinstalling .net frameworks and visual c++ redistributables.
drummer_god Posted May 22, 2017 Posted May 22, 2017 so, I checked my laptop's build of hyperspin 1.3.2 ( I haven't used it yet, as i've been more focused on fixing my arcade problem before exploring this new hyperspin version ), and it too is only displaying wheel art...I must be missing something. this is a pic of my folders in 1.3.2. is there anything obviously missing to you? i'll check the optimizer settings on hyperHQ and let you know in a sec.
drummer_god Posted May 22, 2017 Posted May 22, 2017 HyperHQ optimizer settings on hyperspin 1.3.2 on my arcade are as follows: App quality - high Image smoothing - check Animated artworks - check Level 1 artworks - check Level 2 artworks - check CPU priority - high All else is unchecked
Avar Posted May 22, 2017 Posted May 22, 2017 What about wheel filter options in the wheel settings? Sorry for so many questions just the issue is super bizarre.
drummer_god Posted May 22, 2017 Posted May 22, 2017 My old hyperspin 0.8.0.0 hyperHQ wheel settings, under the navigation tab has: Sort by name - unchecked Remove wheel info - unchecked Remove textfield info- unchecked Clones use parent vids - checked Clones use parent themes - checked Artwork tab, special art tab, text tab and genre screen tab all are empty. Seems there are many more options in 1.3.2 HyperHQ than this old version. Old hyperspin version doesn't display Tmnt wheel art. New version does, but doesn't show vids or theme art....if only I could combine the working art of both versions to make a complete version. Haha
Avar Posted May 22, 2017 Posted May 22, 2017 Aye is very hard to offer much support for a decade old version, sorry :x
drummer_god Posted May 22, 2017 Posted May 22, 2017 Maybe I'll do what agent47 is suggesting. Thanks.
drummer_god Posted May 22, 2017 Posted May 22, 2017 I'm downloading what is listed in the download section as: hyperspin (upgrade) 1.4.16
