The HyperSpin 2 early access beta is here!

We’re starting the first public testing phase with Platinum Members to keep the scope manageable while we test the current feature set and begin to add more. In the future, we’ll provide a version for basic members as well.  On behalf of the entire HyperSpin team, we look forward to another exciting adventure with our community.

Connecting to TV with HDMI

I have been having some problems with running different emulators on HyperSpin when they are connected to a TV rather than on my computer, and I was wondering if anyone had advice regarding how to fix these problems that I suspect many people have encountered.

In the Atari 2600 emulator Stella, I have noticed that when I exit a game to return to HyperSpin the resolution is changed, forcing much of the HyperSpin window off of the screen.

In the NES emulator Nestopia, I have noticed that the emulator will load games on my computer screen rather than the TV screen when started through HyperSpin.

Thank you!

The resolution is only a problem when I return to HyperSpin, not before the game is launched or during gameplay. Would that be some sort of problem with HyperLaunch not reverting to the correct settings?

Alright, I managed to solve the problem with Stella by using HyperLaunch's Restore front end on exit function specifically for the Atari 2600 (rather than Global, which crashed the program). I am still working on Nestopia.

If you use RetroArch, it has both Stella and Nestopia, and it'll handle all the resolution switching for you...

I am having a similar issue using the Taito Type X setup.

I am using PCLauncher and have followed gigapigs setup tutorial very closely!

I successfully setup most if not all of the Taito games on my PC using a standard monitor using DVI connection at 2560x1600 resolution.

When I thought I had everything setup I transferred all the files intact to my arcade PC using a rather unique setup, well sort of.

The video card is set for 1920x1080 resolution using hdmi, well going through and hdmi selector.

When I run some of the Taito games now that previously worked without issue, they now launch as expected, but my monitor gives the no signal message and I hear sound but no video shows.

I edited the Gameres or settings.arc files and changed the resolution for the games to match my monitor at 1920x1080, still no change

Game examples:

Battle Fantasia

BlazeBlue Calamity Trigger

Contra Evolution (launches and can see picture but will not go into full screen, plays in windowed format only)

Daemon Bride

KOF98UM (launches but does not stretch to full screen, can see my desktop wallpaper on either side of the centered screen)

KOFXIII

Chaos Breaker.....etc..

Really the only ones I do have working still are SFIV and SFIVAE, the vertical shooters all seem to still work

Some like Samurai Showdown and Trouble Witches work fine but no sound

ugh....any help would be greatly appreciated, this is my last system before I consider it done for now!

I'm a little confused by this, You have an HDMI selector or HDMI is selected? Does your arcade PC have 1 monitor or more? Some of these games won't like multi monitor setups.

Alternativly check the SV folder of say Blaze Blue, if there are files in there back them up then remove them from the folder, and try running the game again. I'm not sure if screen res data is saved there, but maybe.

My arcade pc uses a Dell monitor that I got for a deal because the internal sound on the monitor does not work. So to bypass the audio input from the tv I connect the hdmi cable from my pc's video card to a monoprice hdmi selector that also has audio output.

After some messing around some of the previous games that were not working, do work when I set the pc's resolution to 1366x768, but the monitor shows no signal. The way I was able to verify the games were playing was by using Teamviewer to remote into the pc.

Once I saw the games worked I assumed we were good, I walked to the garage to verify and no input shows on the monitor.

I know this is something with the resolution, my next theory is to maybe try what you mentioned with the sv files, but also see if there is a resolution that will work for both the launcher and monitor. I would really like to know how I can get the 1366x768 resolution to work.

Also when I got some of the games to play after changing the resolution, the games that worked previous but with no sound did now work with sound.

Back to the drawing board.....

Just trying to get my head around this :) So you don't want to out put sound from the mother board to an amp or set of PC speakers?

Can the Monoprice HDMI selector handle different resolutions and Frenquecies, like 60hz? I had an AV amp which would not accept 1080p @60hz, but 1080p @30hz was fine or 1080i.

Also in the nVidia display settings, are you cloning the displays?

Well, I decided to start isolating the issue by starting with the most basic setup. HDMI direct to the tv from the video card - Looks like there is an issue with the HDMI port of the TV not accepting PC resolutions including the desired 1360x768.

Bypassed the HDMI all together and connected a standard DVI to VGA connection to the TV, at last, some positive results! Works fine with PC resolutions using the VGA connection. Solved the audio problem with the TV by bypassing the tv audio and have a 3.5mm stereo to my PC speakers directly. PC side is good.

The HDMI selector is still used for swapping to the PS3, ugh so glad this has been resolved. Now on to the controls!

Thanks, gigapig!
