The HyperSpin 2 early access beta is here!

We’re starting the first public testing phase with Platinum Members to keep the scope manageable while we test the current feature set and begin to add more. In the future, we’ll provide a version for basic members as well.  On behalf of the entire HyperSpin team, we look forward to another exciting adventure with our community.

Launching a program with selecting a wheel

I've been playing with Hyperspin and love the front end a lot!

I'm building a cabinet that is primarily for emulating mame games (and some console stuff), but at the same time I like to play a Visual pinball table now and again. So in my cabinet I'm using an actuator to raise and lower the vertically mounted 39" tv from roughly 70 degrees for video games and then lowering it to 40 degrees for playing pinball. Its certainly not perfect but a good compromise for me. And space saving.

I'll be using a USB relay control module to control the actuator (though some relays). Any recommendations on USB modules?

So my question is, is there a way to launch a program when a wheel is selected? Like the Mame wheel, so I can launch the raise monitor command? And then when the visual pinball wheel is selected, the lower monitor command is executed.

And if thats not possible, is there any other way to launch a program before every emulator?

Thanks in advance!

Search for the user functions feature. We built in to hyperlaunch two function calls to user made functions that can do what do you want.

I am at my phone now and cannot search the posts for you but I made a few posts explained other users on how to code a simple system or game dependable run line for calling other programs that you could easily adapt for your needs.

bleasby, thanks for the info. Very easy to edit hyperlaunch.ahk and compile it for the added command. Thanks.

I just wish there was a way to do it when a wheel is selected.

Do you use RocketLauncher?

You don't need to compile anything if you it. It is possible also to launch anything when you select a game wheel.

If you want to launch programs based on systems or games before selecting a game, them you would need to use a ledblink communication hack for that. it is a little bit more advanced, but not that much anyway.

RL does that? Wow, very cool. I'm using 1.3 I think. I looked at 3 but it broke all the config files for the emulators, paths and such. Does 3.0 handle 1.3 files?

Hi, Not as clued up as Bleasby but i can tell you from experience that HL 3 kicks the butt of earlier versions. Fair enough it took me an couple of hours one evening to switch over to it and have everything working like it should again, but when you do it you will see that its worth it

Make a backup of your current setup. Create a new one from scratch, read the docs and you'll end up asking yourself why you didn't switch earlier. Once you learn the workflow, it's so much easier to set things up and you get so many features with no work as well. It's an incredible piece of work, especially considering it's all AHK.

Thanks for the info guys. I'll look into it! This Hyperspin setup is a duplicate from a friend.. I didn't put it together, just trying to modify it a bit :)
