The HyperSpin 2 early access beta is here!

We’re starting the first public testing phase with Platinum Members to keep the scope manageable while we test the current feature set and begin to add more. In the future, we’ll provide a version for basic members as well.  On behalf of the entire HyperSpin team, we look forward to another exciting adventure with our community.

Hyperspin joy2key controls conflicting with nes controls on arcade cabinet controls, need help with solution

Ok so I've had hyperspin n Mame for quite a while. I kept having to erase n reinstall it because I would use joy2key to be able to control menus with the Happ joystick n buttons on my arcade cabinet. That works fine.

Then some emulators for the nes wouldn't work correctly, so I ended up using jnes, which worked, and it had a built in software for controls, much like joy2key. So I set the controls and it does work. Problem is, so does the joy2key controls for the hyperspin menus(joy2key hyperspin profile not shutting off when going into nes game and I'm assuming any other emulator that uses a similar setup that is being recognized as joy2key basically, so they're blending), so when I push what would be the back button for the menus (for instance) during an nes game that is the jump button, it would exit the nes back into the menus!

The thing is, I don't even have to load a joy2key profile to get the hyperspin controls to work, hell, I don't even have that profile saved right now! I erased it, and it still works! I'd have to completely erase everything, then reinstall everything for it to not work! Forget about trying to get an nes software to work that has even similar joy2key controls, because it just won't work, because both the hyperspin (even erased) joy2key profile and the nes one will be combined and I'll end up exiting the game or something like that. I think the main problem I'm having is the joy2key profile for hyperspin isn't shutting off once I leave hyperspin to the game, it's still active just like the nes one is while playing an nes game. I've tried multiple versions of joy2key, emulators, etc.

So is there a work around for this problem (outside of having crazy button configurations for the hyperspin profile)? Is there just something wrong with my setup? Is there an nes emulator that doesn't use something similar to joy2key that will work with rocket launcher/hyperspin correctly?

get rid of joy2key is your best bet

most if not all  modern day emulators support direct joystick configuration,  their is no need for you to be using

any type of mapping software on your emulators.

the only problem here is that Hyperpsinn does not have joystick support.

so use this to control hyperspin, you might noticed that it was built for a 360 controller

but you can remap the button numbers to match what you want.

Ok so Im on my phone, so I haven't tried what you linked. But thanks. I have tried other emulators n they were not booting properly from hyperspin (like only in small window, not booting at all, freezes, etc), is there some definitive emulators that'll work great with hyperspin n rocket launcher? For Sega, snes, nes, etc?

But yeah I haven't messed with this in a while, but just finished my full cabinet recently n wanted to start playing again. I'll fiddle with all this today n erase n reinstall everything n see if I can figure it out without joy2key n use what you linked for it.

Also, jnes n some others don't use joy2key, just something like it in the controller settings. So it's being recognized the same way, n the controller profiles are intermingling, so all the buttons layouts area being used at the same time. ie- hyperspin black button is "back", jnes "jump" button is the black button as well, so then the game exits back into the hyperspin menu. Some sort of comfort going on there, ppl were using this for years, there must be something wrong somewhere that's not exiting one profile to another. But yeah, getting rid of joy2key to something that isnt being recognized as joy2key or used similarly to anything else in any other emulator is probably the best work around. I'm just looking for viable options.
