Force resolution In Mame thru HS

Hey , i have a strange issue , I have edited the mame.ini to force res to 3840x2160 as the games and scanlines look much cleaner . when i run mame from mame64.exe all runs great.

when i run thru HS or rocketlauncher , the res goes back to desktop res

( if i set desktop res to 3840 x 2160 then mame runs in that res and all fine)  ( i dont want desktop res to be such high res as i cant read text etc as its too small)

I cannot seem to get HS to run mame in the res that is set in the ini , but having no joy

i have tried all settings in RL mame settings to be ini and tried changing res in hyper hq, even individual games setting where i create a resolution not working .

has anyone had this issue before ? im running out of ideas

did you try making your .ini file read only so hyperspin doesnt change it? I remember theres another emulator that you had to do that on with controls. Give that a try

I know Hyperspin isnt changing the mame.ini , as when i run hyperspin it runs at the lower res , then when i come out of HS and launch mame it runs at the higher resoultion.

Even taking into account that these are old low res games, the  game and scanlines looks much cleaner when forced to higher res. My cpu is decent so not having slowdowns or anything 

Someone suggested i could edit the mame.ahk module , but i can get into it but not sure how to force resolution thru there.

If anyone can help i would appreciate , also i would suggest people try force to higher res if possible as it really does look cleaner

did you try to change it here? If you set it all up just in mame and it works but when you run RL it stops you can change it here to whats below or  lock the MAME.ini file so it doesnt default to the lower.

Hi Mike , Yes i tried to force resolution there to test on a per game basis , but even changing that did not work unfortunately

someone has suggested i look at 2 files in the modules folder 

one is mame.ahk and another is an isd file . i looked at the ahk but there seemed to be no obvious place to insert custom resolution .

I also tried forcing resolution in RL thru individual game settings - that didnt work

I set Hyper HQ to run at 3840x2160 , that didnt work 

 

It really frustrating as i can simply run mame64.exe which runs the mame.ini file which tells it to got 3840 x 2160 and all looks great .

running thru hyperspin always goes back to 1920x 1080 ( or desktop resolution) , all rl mame settings are set to ini .

Hyperspin is also not modifying the mame.ini as the resolution settings remain after launching and manually launching mame after

I wont give up , there must be a way
