Hey everyone

Am sure this has been covered before sorry - I want to put a system together for old 80s/early90s mame roms, which dont need much grunt from a PC, but what do I need to be able to run the Hyperspin front end nicely?  The videos/transitions etc need a certain level of PC to run nicely I think?  Minimum processor type and RAM?

Thanks!

Hi there, my standard answer is usually just get the best you can with whatever your budget allows.

HS/RL really don't need that much. Almost anything win7 or newer will do... like core duo and 8gb ram.

More important will be what video card you can stick in it... and what size graphics you want to run. I can't imagine that you would want/need anything greater than 1080p but if you are trying to use 4k bezels for instance to match the TV you are connected to, you may want a more beefier card.

Thanks Spawk!  For this project I dont have much budget so am looking on ebay for the cheapest PC that will do the job for me - next project is to build a guns cabinet and get as many of the gun games on as possible - will use a beefier PC for that as I want to get some pretty up to date games if they're out there!  Any advice on which system to use for that?  Was going to explore the latest mame roms but am not sure how recent the latest ones are?
