Hi,

I'm using hyperspin with an ipac-4 and i have 8-way's  joysticks (ilsa).

Now i want to play nintendo game boy and ps1 games using the emulator retroarch.

I'm having some problems with setting up my buttons in retroarch.

In the input section i set type on retropad and configure the rest of my buttons.

When i test in hyperspin not all buttons work and retroarch didnt really saved my config.

I read some users use a controller to play those games but is it not possible to configure my buttons with the ilsa joysticks because i dont want to use controllers on my arcade cabinet.

Greetings and thanks in advance!

Post pictures of your HyperHQ button mapping and what buttons are not working.

I suggest you read up on how to map your buttons in Retroarch

you can set up a default button map -->   this will work for every system/game you are running in retorarch

you can set a "Per system button map"  -- >   this will set an individual and unique button map for EACH system  you are running.

you can set a "Per game button map"  -->   this will set an individual and unique button  map for EACH game you are running

( very handy for MAME when some games need a gun others need a wheel ,  others need joysticks)

i tried to change the retroarch.cfg file because i read there could be some conflicts cause many of MAME’s default keys conflict with RetroArch’s hotkey default mappings.

But no result....

their are pros and cons to using a  keyboard encoder such as the ipac

their are pros and cons to using Joystick encoders

you just found a con to using keyboard encoders  as service keys in Retroarch can be mapped to basic MAME keyboard keys.

you can pick any emulator you want but the good thing about  Retroarch is

that if you map your default keys  most if not all your emulators you are running will be fully configured.

You can updated all the Retroarchs  service keys so they do not conflict with your setup.   I can imagine that its only

a hand full of them.

any emulator you choose you will have to map your keys, and you might have the same problem

I actually thought of building 2 of this Teensy based controllers and adding them to my cab

https://www.tested.com/tech/gaming/569647-how-build-pinsim-virtual-reality-pinball-machine/

minus the ,  Nudge and analog plunger.

the good thing about this controllers is that they are recognized as Xbox controllers  (XInput)

and given that Retroarch is pre configured to work with Xbox controllers.

THEIR IS NO NEED to do any button mapping!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! if you use this device.

the only problem is that I don't think I would have enough buttons for all of my service keys

I might ask the dev to release a non pinball version that has every single input set to be a button input.

or I will try to do it my self one day.
