Don's Rom Renamer issue

Ok, having an issue, or least a question about Don's Rom Renamer program. Ok, so I recently discovered that Hyperspin/RocketLauncher will not load compressed PS1 games that have (Disc 1), (Disc 2) etc in the name. You have to unzip all the discs and make an .m3u file, or you can simply rename the file without the parentheses. For instance, Final Fantasy VII (Disc 1).7z will not load through Hyperspin. However, if you rename it Final Fantays VII - Disc 1.7z it works fine. The problem is that there are a ton of multi disc games and either way will be time consuming. So, I decided to go through all my games, rename them without parentheses and they all work fine now. My plan was to use Don's Rom Renamer to rename all the wheel images, videos, box art etc using the .xml file from my newly renamed game files. I've done it other times with other consoles. However, for some odd reason Don's Rom Renamer will not guess or link the game files to the artwork, videos etc. I don't understand why it will not look at Final Fantasy VII - Disc 1 and and link it to Final Fantasy VII (Disc 1). It's almost exactly the same but it will not guess or link any of my renamed games, meaning I'm going to have to go through and manully remove the parentheses from about 800 files across images, videos, boxart etc. Am I missing something here, or can someone recommend another program? Thanks

That's just not the correct way to do things. You should NOT rename anything!

RL will load games fine that have (Disc 1) at the end. What it won't do is be able to switch to the next disc "on the fly". Which is actually ok for a lot of games since you save at the end of one disc, then load up disc 2 and load the save from there.

For the games that do need a "hot swapping" method, yes, they NEED to be uncompressed. There is no way around this! You do have 2 options though.

1. Uncompress all these games and create an m3u playlist

2. Make a CHD (like the ones Mame uses) out of each disc. (must use a emulator that supports this file type). Then add "chd" to the list of extensions in RL.

Thanks. From my experience RL will NOT load a .7z file with (Disc 1) in the title. I tried Final Fantasy VII, VIII, IX, Chrono Cross, Lunar, Lunar 2, Metal Gear Solid etc. It simply will not load compressed files with (Disc 1) in the title. If you take the parentheses out of the .7z name but leave the actual file inside the same with parentheses it will work but it won't even attempt it otherwise. (Disc 1) will not work, Disk 1 will. I did manage to find another program to remove the parentheses and now everything works perfectly. I know it will be a problem with games  like MGS that require an in-game swap but it'll work for now. I'll get around to making m3u files down the road. Thanks for your reply,
