vizzinni Posted June 12, 2020 Posted June 12, 2020 For some reason, after exiting MAME there's a 30 second or more delay of blank screen before Hyperspin returns. I'm running only MAME .149, the latest Hyperspin version, LEDBlinky (only to automatically set the digital restriction mode on the 49-way joys with GPWiz-49s), and the Hyperspin Startup Script (was the only way I could get the joysticks to work in Hyperspin consistently). When running MAME from a command prompt, there's no exit delay. Any suggestions?
vizzinni Posted June 23, 2020 Author Posted June 23, 2020 For the record, what appears to have fixed this is changing the Windows mode from Hidden to Normal in HyperHQ. I'd made some other changes in the mame.ini file in MAME so it might've been one of those, but I don't think so. I haven't bothered to switch back to confirm this was the fix. Now I've got an issue with a couple of keystrokes for MAME commands (like P for pause, and F7) take me out of MAME and back to Hyperspin, while leaving the MAME game running in the background. I can alt-tab back to to the game, but don't want to have to do that since this is a cabinet and want to stash the keyboard. Most other MAME commands, like Tab, F3, F11, and others don't cause this problem. My guess is that it's a Windows thing...
gigapig Posted June 23, 2020 Posted June 23, 2020 Is it possible those keystrokes are the same keystrokes that tell Rocketlaucher to kill the script?
vizzinni Posted June 24, 2020 Author Posted June 24, 2020 Thanks for the reply, but I'm not using Rocketlauncher. Should I be? Other than this problem, everything seems to be working well, and MAME is the only emulator I'll be using. But you're mention of "script" reminded me that I'm using the Hyperspin Startup Script, so I might revisit that and see if that has anything to do with it.

tancrede987 Posted June 25, 2020 Posted June 25, 2020 Ah... crap XD Find anything related to system notifications, that's what Focus Assist is related.
