Online scraper for missing xml database info (genre, year etc.)?

I have found a bunch of tools for scraping missing art and videos, as well as a lot of tools for comparing xml databases with file names and renaming roms, images etc.

Most of the time this all work together, in a chaotic kind of way, to setup a good collection. But occasionally I am missing information inside my xml databases such as genre, manufacturer, publishing year etc. and some games (especially japanese releases) are not available in many of the databases I can find online.

Is there a tool for scraping this missing info, using filename comparison and/or crc calculations to fill in the spaces in my database files? I can't believe this kind of tool doesn't exist, or just a catch all tool for scraping images + videos + database info would be superb. Moving between 5 different tools to finish the job is often a headache.

Thanks

Believe it or not no there isn’t a scraping tool for xmls to get genre or manufacture info. I’m with you though it would be awesome. I’ve scrapped stuff from sites but you still gotta do leg work to get the xml right

It's bizarre, because this is totally possible. The program HakchiCE - a tool for hacking and adding games to the SNES Classic mini system - does this internally, as well as scraping images. You add your roms - no need to even worry about the file name - and set the scraper going. It finds matches online and you can then go through and select the right game for each of your roms. Then you scrape the right cover art and missing database info all in one go and add everything - including your games - to the system - ALL IN ONE PROGRAM!

It should be possible to do this universally, and create databases for hyperspin and other systems.

I am not a programmer, but I would go this route.
