jweber23 Posted October 20, 2020 Posted October 20, 2020 I just set up HyperSpin and Rocketlauncher primarily for MAME. I also have a couple N64 games that I set up and they work great. The only issue I have with MAME is picture quality is worse when I launch mame64 via HyperSpin than when I just run mame64. With HyperSpin the games are more pixelated. I went into Rocketlauncher and tried adding a few different monitors but it didn't seem to make a difference. Anybody know how I fix this?
Spawk Posted October 21, 2020 Posted October 21, 2020 Hover your mouse over the little "i" icon for more info. Likely setting to "ini" is what you want.
jweber23 Posted November 18, 2020 Author Posted November 18, 2020 Thanks for the reply. I tried this but still have the same issue. I tried each video mode, but none of them changed how it looked. It's noticeably more pixelated when the MAME game is running. I'm running .202. When I go into the gui and look at the video settings, it's set to auto. Anything else I can try? It's driving me nuts!
Spawk Posted November 18, 2020 Posted November 18, 2020 This is the only place to set video options. If setting to "ini" doesn't look exactly like opening in mame itself, then I would assume it's not finding the ini file. Depending on your version or flavor of mame, ini files are either in the root of mame or in a subfolder also named "ini".
jweber23 Posted November 18, 2020 Author Posted November 18, 2020 Yeah, I don't get it. I checked the mame.ini file in the root folder and see that I have it marked to d3d (see below) I also tried changing it in rocketlaucher settings to d3d instead of ini but nothing changed. I even tried a newer version of mame to see if that would help, but nothing makes the output better or worse. # OSD VIDEO OPTIONS # video d3d numscreens 1 window 0 maximize 1 waitvsync 0 syncrefresh 0 monitorprovider auto
jweber23 Posted November 18, 2020 Author Posted November 18, 2020 For anyone looking back on this with the same issue, I figured it out! I had to change LegacyMode to true in the MAME module that Spawk provided a screenshot before above. I don't really understand why this fixed the video outputs, but I'm not complaining!
