The HyperSpin 2 early access beta is here!

We’re starting the first public testing phase with Platinum Members to keep the scope manageable while we test the current feature set and begin to add more. In the future, we’ll provide a version for basic members as well.  On behalf of the entire HyperSpin team, we look forward to another exciting adventure with our community.

Problem with game text settings in .ini files.

Hi, after reading some posts on here about customizing game description location, color, etc, I decided to mess around with my setup again. I began to customize the game description for each system but then ran into a very weird problem. All the various changes worked fine, (size, location, color), but the strokesize keeps screwing up. When I enter a system the first game that shows up has the proper strokesize, but as soon as I move up or down to the next game the strokesize goes back to default. Is this controlled by something other than the .ini files in the HyperSpin/Settings folder? This is another strange HyperSpin anomaly that is making me pull my hair out. If any kind expert out there can help me out I would greatly appreciate it :). I have included the text section from my mame ini, but I've looked it over a million times and it looks fine.

Thanks in advance...

I just changed the text2 stroke size to 20 and it was working as it should and whilst moving the wheel. 20 was an extreme test.

That is all I changed though, if you made other changes then they may influence the stroke.

Are you using the latest version?

Hi, thanks for the reply. Yes, I just updated from 1.4.0.0 to latest 1.5.1 I think. I originally updated because the old one was giving me the white screen with exclamation lockup which happened once and a while and got worse when I switched HyperSpin to run at 4k and yes the newer HyperSpin crashes less but it still does it.

Back to the text problem, I have tried exiting and restarting HyperSpin, I have tried rebooting my pc, same problem. I have around 52 systems installed and it does the same thing in all of them regardless of theme, yep I edited all of my systems before I noticed the stroke size problem :(. I also temporarily switched back to my older HyperSpin exe to test and it was still doing the same thing

Don’t know if it matters but I am running it on a Windows 7 ultimate 64bit pc, 4770k cpu, 16gb of ram, 1080 ti video card and 8tb hard drive.

Well another update for anyone interested. If I launch HyperSpin from a 1080p desktop everything works fine again, if I launch HyperSpin from a 4K desktop the problem returns. I am trying to run everything I can at the native 4K screen resolution to help everything work better together, (I want to raise some emulators to 4K and I also have a 100 or so PC games installed that all run at 4K). Does anyone know of a fix for this? Is HyperSpin not supposed to be run at 4K? I'm HyperSpin dazed and confused again.

On a side note: What about HyperSpin locking up with white screen and exclamation mark in a circle. I can tool around HyperSpin at 4K and usually have a crash within 15 minutes, 1080p within an hour. I've read on the forum, maybe it's flv files causing it, maybe a memory leak somewhere etc. Does anyone have a cure or at least someway to make it go longer before crashing.

Sorry for asking so many questions. Been using HyperSpin for years now and yet every time I re-visit it I run into new things I didn't know. The most frustrating software ever made and yet the most rewarding when you finally get it working. :)

EDIT: Do any computer experts out there know of a way to leave desktop at 4K but force HyperSpin to run at 1080p??? HyperHQ lets you set resolution for windowed screen but when set to fullscreen it seems to run at your desktop resolution.

Your problem does appear to be linked to the text sizes, bad wheel art or flv files. There is also the Sexy Parodius theme that caused Hyperspin to crash but that's the only one I know of.

You may have already seen this post.

Hi again :) I have tested Hyperspin for hours and it still seems to crash randomly, just watching in attract mode in main system menu or any game systems it seems to white screen anywhere from 20 to 60 min. I also watched closely the exact game and system where it crashed and then after restarting HyperSpin jumped around but repeatedly went back to the theme that it crashed on last time. I went back to the theme over 20 times and no crash. Totally random.

I have switched back to a 1080p desktop, (which looks ridiculous on a 75 inch screen), but it fixed my game text problem, Hyperspin seems snappier, and it takes longer to crash than running at 4K. This is strictly a media pc anyway so I set the PC to boot directly into HyperSpin at startup. Everything I use, Kodi, screensavers, emulators and PC Games, all run from within HyperSpin anyway. Thanks for the replies Gigapig but I think this one is going to remain a mystery for now, maybe a future update or something will fix it. If I find out anything more in the future I will post here with my findings. Thanks again....
