Hi all so I recently swapped from retropie to hyperspin in my arcade cabinet as I had a pc laying around. All was going fine running smooth after I set it all up but when I turned off my pc and went back on the next day all my joystick IDs have been changed so none of my button mappings work now and are all swapped round so player 1 is now on the player 4 etc. Which as you can guess is very annoying having to go back and change it all. I then changed it all and it done it again!

I was wondering if there is a fix for this I have seen it happens on windows 10 (which I'm on) so I was thinking will going to windows 7 fix the issue?

Thanks in advance

This is a "windows" issue that goes back as far as the Win95/XP days! LOL. It will just randomly assign an ID to any controllers every single boot.

To help the situation, RL has a "preferred controller" setting that also accepts "custom names" in case you are using more than one of the same kind of controller. This should at least get the games to launch with the same order every time.

Unfortunately when you first turn on HS, RL is not loaded yet so it can't re-order anything! How you tackle this is another issue. I only have 2 players so I map both for HS navigation and it doesn't really matter which ID is which when windows boots. Then when I select a game, RL loads and P1 is always P1.

It's very annoying as you probably know lol. I have downloaded and going to try using Tur-Game Controller Order 1.5 from the downloads section on here and see if that fixes it. Will give it a couple of days to test properly
