The HyperSpin 2 early access beta is here!

We’re starting the first public testing phase with Platinum Members to keep the scope manageable while we test the current feature set and begin to add more. In the future, we’ll provide a version for basic members as well.  On behalf of the entire HyperSpin team, we look forward to another exciting adventure with our community.

Hyperspin controls getting locked on game exit.........................................?

This issue has finally annoyed me enough to ask for help....this does not happen all of the time....seems random...and on occasion...not repeatable, but throwing this out there to see if anyone my know what's happening or experienced something similar.

This issue happens sometimes when i exist a game.

When exiting a game and going back to the hyperspin wheel, I will use my controller to start scrolling on the wheel, it seems, at any point if my thumb veers from up or down even slightly to trigger the left or right buttons, the wheel goes to a random game in the same wheel, then ALL controls go unresponsive (even keybaord). I can no longer move to a different game, enter a game, exit the wheel, close hyperspin...nothing....The program is not frozen, it seems, as videos  are still playing, just can't move. it seems that maybe i'm triggering a lock somehow?....I have no idea....this doesn't happen all the time and i can't repeat it, but it tends to commonly come up after exit from a game, doesn't matter the platform so i know this has to be specific to the hyperspin platform. Has anyone else experienced this?

Thanks for this, that would make sense, I'll apply that and see how it goes

*update* I checked these settings in RL and mostly everything is set to use_global and these are my global settings...not sure if i need to check elsewhere? ....the arguement still makes sense that this could be what is happening ...but not sure now how it's getting triggered...

I noticed i had "debug" mode enabled and disabled it...I sincerely doubt that would be causing it...but noting it just in case

Hey I'm new here, and it seems I have a very similar issue. New arcade console from GameRoomSystems.com.

I can boot clean right into HyperSpin, select an emulator (MAME), select a game in MAME (Galaga) play it, and then click the Exit button on my console. The game will quit... but from this point on, the joystick and arcade button controls no longer control the wheel or anything on screen.

Using Hyperspin 1.5.1 with latest RocketLauncher. I think what is happening is that because JoyToKey.exe is started by the HyperSpin.exe process that when HyperSpin backs out, JoyToKey.exe is terminated. I can't confirm, because I can't get to the desktop to check to see if JoyToKey.exe is still running, but for sure if I exit out of HyperSpin, then JoyToKey is NOT running (even in the system tray).

I tried putting a system shortcut into my %appdata%/Microsoft/Windows/Start Menu/Startup folder for both HyperSpin (which is how i launch it) and for JoyToKey.exe and remove the binding for starting JoyToKey.exe in HyperHQ.exe. The same result. JoyToKey.exe is no longer running once I exit out of a game in MAME.

Not sure what to do now. I can reboot every time i want to play a new game, but that sucks :)

This isn't the same issue however I have also had this, it's a setting in RL. It's choosing the wrong Joytokey profile after you exit a game. I can't remember the name of setting off the top of my head but I will check next time I log onto my Arcade.

Ah. Thank you! Cheers.

ETA: Seems my issue is fixed. Just had to add JoyToKey.exe in the "Exit" program field in HyperHQ. It was left blank.

Regarding my original post. This seems to be more of an issue with hyperspin. I'm thinking this due to the fact that the wheel IS responsive for a split second...then nothing is responsive..not even the keyboard. Again, video is still playing suggesting the program/controls are locked but not whatever is used to play video. I will note that i have not seen the issue surface since disabling debug mode. But it remains an infrequent issue.

It might be the Disable Taskbar causing it, I had all those options enabled and just disabled them all apart from hide cursor and havent had it since.

Did you ever get this resolved by changing the RL settings (hide taskbar)? I'm having the same issue. Very random, very infrequent, but enough to bother me, hah.

I haven't seen this come up recently...to be fair i haven't been playing video games all that much either. I most commonly see this come up with using a playstation dualshock controller....not so much with a snes, nes controller. I'll try playing some games this weekend and see if it surfaces.
