The HyperSpin 2 early access beta is here!

We’re starting the first public testing phase with Platinum Members to keep the scope manageable while we test the current feature set and begin to add more. In the future, we’ll provide a version for basic members as well.  On behalf of the entire HyperSpin team, we look forward to another exciting adventure with our community.

Latest HS 1.5.1 still has problems with MP4 videos, with freezing for the first 3-4 seconds. Here is the fix for Windows 10 and 11.

My Radeon HD6450 struggled to decode the MP4 videos. As read here many times, the sound started with freeze video for 3 or 4 second, and then video catches up the audio. Very annoying..

My i3 is capable to decode video without using hardware acceleration, but HS does not have an option for disabling Video Hardware acceleration by itself, so I took the "disable acceleration in Flash" method. Thing is, Flash is completely gone for Windows 10 and 11!!! It has to be "rebuild". Spoiler alert: It freaking works!!!

So here the steps:

  1. Download Firefox 84.0.2 from here, choose your language (do not install a newer version!!!): FireFox 84.0.2
  2. Disconnect from internet. Do not let Firefox to update! Go to Options and chang to "Check for updates but let you choose to install them"
  3. Reconnect from internet. Do not update your Firefox when asked!!!
  4. Download Flash Player 32.0.0.465 for FireFox, from here: Flash Player 32.0.0.465
  5. Restart Firefox
  6. Just in case, make Firefox your default browser.
  7. Go to this site: https://ultrasounds.com/
  8. You'll see the Flash logo at the top of the page, meaning Flash Player is installed. See Screenshot 1
  9. Press right click over the Flash logo, go to Configuration, and uncheck the "Hardware acceleration enabled" (mine is in spanish). See Screenshot 2.
  10. There you have your videos running smooth.

I'm not sure but just in case, do not uninstall Firefox, if you want to browse internet, install Chrome or use Edge. You can change your default browser to any of them, with no effect in Hyperspin.

Clearly, HS is still using the "Flash route" for decoding videos, even for MP4, so the latest patch does not fully fixes that issue. At least for older ATI cards (it works perfect with Intel though).

I think HS urgently need get rid completely of Flash support, and includes an option to enable or disable DirectX Video Acceleration (DXVA), like DVD Players had back then.

Hope you find this useful.

HS can't get rid of flash, it is a projector, a flash software packed as a .exe.

I can confirm some old AMD videocards have BIG problem with mp4, on my friend's cabinet I had to convert MAME multimedia video to .flv as the gpu didn't offload the video when a game was launched and it didn't had enough juice to run RA shaders while decoding the video.
