The HyperSpin 2 early access beta is here!

We’re starting the first public testing phase with Platinum Members to keep the scope manageable while we test the current feature set and begin to add more. In the future, we’ll provide a version for basic members as well.  On behalf of the entire HyperSpin team, we look forward to another exciting adventure with our community.

Hey all. So I'm noticing something odd with g-sync and MAME when using HS. Using the monitor's built-in fresh rate overlay I'm looking at the refresh and there's a problem when using Hyperspin. If I launch a game that can utilize one of those weird refresh rates (a 90s Midway game for example) through RL or through MAME command line the g-sync works fine. (This was tested with "syncrefresh" always ON but I noticed it seems to work with "waitvsync" ON or OFF - according to the overlay and performance anyway). However, if I launch Hyperspin the monitor refresh overlay shows 165hz even after I launch MAME. I should also mention this is only with bezels on, which makes me think this is a focus issue of some kind? Bezels on = gsync dies with HS but works through RL. Bezels off = no issues.

To narrow down the issue I've tried non-admin launch everywhere, admin launch everywhere. I've tried "fill" and "false" on the bezel size, but gsync seems to work fine with either of those options as long as HS isn't running. I also tried launching MAME using RL with gsync working, then after launcher HS in the background g-sync focuses back to HS at 165hz. Killing HS resets g-sync back to working condition on MAME.

I installed the proper monitor drivers. I tested this scenario with g-sync enabled for "fullscreen only" and "both windowed and fullscreen" with the same results. I also tested HS in fullscreen or in 1920x1080 windowed to no avail. HS is set to HIGH quality, not BEST. The difference between HIGH and BEST isn't too obvious but on MEDIUM you can really tell so I hope that's not the solution.

Really racking my brain here, not sure what to try next. Thanks in advance!

Tried the thing and yeah, when you use bezels from RL gsync does not activate when MAME is launched. I don't use bezels but as far as I see there's a bit of Z-order conflict when you use bezels too. My best guess is whatever software apply bezels is just not compatible with gsync.
As far as I know RetroArch has a similar built in function, if you want bezels probably it is better to use RA MAME cores or MAME artwork function (I have no idea how the things work as I don't like bezels)
