Help with controllers (Xbox Gamepad, 8bitdo Bluetooth) not working with Hyperspin Attraction Hard Drive

Hi all,

*I saw the warning about purchasing hard drives using HyperSpin, etc.  I know what I bought and wanted it for a reason.  I'm asking for support because everything works on every computer I have tried it on except one and I'm trying to determine what could be off with my one computer*

I recently purchase a 12TB external hard drive pre-configured with Hyperspin Attraction (KinHank) from Amazon. I'm no stranger to setting these up and configuring them myself, but this was easier to get a fully preconfigured drive that kids could use.

I have tried running Hyperspin on 3 different Win 11 computers, and everything works perfectly on 2 of them. I am using 2 x 8bitdo bluetooth gamepads (SN30pro and Pro2)  and even tried an Xbox Elite controller with usb dongle and a Turtle Beach stealth Ultra xbox style controller - these all work out of the box on 2 out 3 computers.  However I'm having trouble with the controllers when running this on the 3rd computer. With the first two, I launch Hyperspin and all of the controls are pre-mapped and work just fine as expected.

But with this 3rd system, I launch Hyperspin and have no gamepad input at all (keyboard works fine). I have checked windows settings and confirmed all controllers are recognized by windows and tried setting different ones as the primary.  I have even gone so far as to format and reinstall Windows 11 on this computer thinking it was some windows setting that was off, but it did not resolve the issue on this one computer.

Is there anything that anyone is aware of why on one computer out of 3 the same gamepads would not work? I can plug the hard drive back in computers 1 and 2 and everything works fine immediately, I have full controller function in Hyperspin. I know it must be something off with this 3rd computer, but I have no other gamepad issues with any other game on it in steam, epic, xbox gamepass, etc.  Everything is launching and running on an external hard drive, so I'm not sure why this operates differently on just one computer when the settings are the same.

Thanks in advance!

Hi everyone,

posting this today got me back in the mood to continue troubleshooting this, and after weeks of messing with it I have finally figured out the conflict.   On this one computer I am using a Razer Huntsman V2 Analog keyboard, which for some reason has a feature that allows the keyboard to be recognized as a windows gamepad.  This was causing the keyboard gamepad device to always be recognized as Joy0 by windows and be the primary joystick for all games.  Even changing the primary under "Game Controllers" setting in windows did not reprioritize this.  After doing some research on this keyboard, I found I could disable the HID Compliant game controller drivers that the keyboard uses in device manager, which removed the keyboard gamepad that windows was recognizing.  This has solved the problem and now my usb and bluetooth gamepads are immediately recognized by Hyperspin.  Just wanted to post here in case anyone else encounters this one off edge case and this could help you solve it too.

Thanks!

Posting this here too just in case and for warning regarding more users that buy hard drives like this.

- HyperSpin Attraction uses Attract-Mode Plus frontend with RocketLauncher so this site is not the place for it. The name plays around with HS and AM names since it's a replication of the original HS experience using other frontend.

- HyperSpin Attraction is shared publicly for free and not for sale. If you bought it from someone you have been scammed.
- Selling is banned in HA discord and support will not be given either for anyone that bought hard drives from sellers.
