Question about games and rom recognition

Sorry if this is a beginner level question. 
I’m sure it is an easy fix- however I can’t seem to figure out an easy solution. Clearly I’m missing something. 
 

so my hyperspin is working great- however

i have for example ever ninten rom to play. My issue is when I open rocket launcher and run an audit only about 400 out of my 800 games are recognized. 
 

this is due to a slight variance in the rom file name 

say something like contra

if the file is looking for contra and mine says contra(!) it will not work. 
 

I can rename the file and it works fine. However I really don’t want to do that for 400 Roms that are the correct file but not being read correctly. Is there some sort of list or bulk way to correct my files that is in the Audit list?  How do I find the audit list for each emulator and make sure my bulk Roms match?

 

anyways sorry if this is a long question. I’ve been stuck on this and haven’t figured out an easier way to fix this.

here is a followup question. lets say you have 2500 games but your xml file only has 800 files- do you essentially need to builld your own xml file to get rocket launcher to audit/find all the games?

You would need to find a more expansive xml or manually add to your existing xml.
