jhartley111 Posted September 1, 2011 Posted September 1, 2011 Sometimes the simplest problems are the most frustrating... I'm converting from a Mala cab to a Hyperspin cab and so far I am awestruck at how easy it's been. But I'm having a problem getting Nestopia to act right. It works perfectly on it's own, it works perfectly from Mala, but when I run it from Hyperspin, it starts fine but immediately loses focus to Hyperspin. I'm on the NES wheel, select the game, the screen goes black as if the game's starting, then I'm looking at the NES wheel again. Nestopia is running in the background. I can alt-tab to it and it's running fine. I just can't figure out what's making it lose focus. The command line Mala uses is the plain vanilla "executable.exe rompath" and it works fine in Mala. In Hyperspin I tried both the Hyperlaunch script and just running it with the regular vanilla command line instructions. Both ways, nestopia starts fine but immediately loses focus. I've been pulling my hair out over this. I can't think of anything running in the background with HS that's not running when I use Mala. Anybody got any ideas? I can post further details if anybody can suggest what details might be handy. Thanks
Dragiin Posted September 2, 2011 Posted September 2, 2011 i had this same exact problem and after a ton of help and troubleshooting the only sensible solution was to switch emu's. we determined that it was possibly a specific problem to my cpu, if your not set on using nestopia i would switch to FCEUX and it will most likely solve the issue. blur Posted September 2, 2011 Posted September 2, 2011 there is winactivate command in ahk which acts same as alt-tab check ahk home page maybe instead of vanilla start of nestopia you can use something like run ... sleep ... (or winwait or winwaitactive) winactivate ... and maybe: click (clicks on current mouse position) My paper cab core.vbs with better nudge FPLaunch with exit menu, instructions, flyer VP with support for analog nudge and plunger with any gamepad www.submania.hr www.phoenixmarine.hr rent-a-boat-rab.com bootsvermietung-rab.com
demonolith Posted September 2, 2011 Posted September 2, 2011 I recommend switching to FCEUX as well. I had nothing but problems with Nestopia albeit different problems. Ultimately it boiled down to keeping V-Sync on and dealing with noticeable input lag, or turning V-Sync off and dealing with tremendous screen tear. I switched to FCEUX and haven't looked back since
Hypnoziz Posted September 2, 2011 Posted September 2, 2011 FCEUX should be the new recommended default NES emulator for Hyperspin. Nestopia really is a cannibal beast that eats itself inside out. Heh heh! <em class='bbc'>"But does one ever truly have a choice? One can only match, move by move, the machinations of Fate, and thus defy the tyrannous stars."</em>
jhartley111 Posted September 4, 2011 Author Posted September 4, 2011 I tried messing around with the AHK script but eventually just switched to FCEUX and it seems to be working well. Thanks for the help!
shinguki Posted February 14, 2012 Posted February 14, 2012 Wow, I just had the "no focus" issue and I switched to fceux. fceux doesnt seem to have any issues so far. Thanks for input out there fellow HS fans.
Imgema Posted June 29, 2014 Posted June 29, 2014 Sorry that i had to resurrect this topic but im having the same problem here. And no, using other emulators isn't an option either because i have different problems with them. I just want to use Nestopia, is there any command i could add to the ahk to fix this?
