Is there a way to add bezels to each rom on HyperSpin? I finally have Mame working with all the artwork and videos, but I can't get the bezels to work. I have most of the bezels and I'd like to add them. I can get the bezels to work on MAME, but not when using MAME thru Hyperspin.

Thanks

I never done it, but in HyperLaunchHQ for MAME>Emulator tab there is a edit modules settings button. Click it and it will open a UI whree one of the settings that you can set is to Enable Bezels.

I have bezel set to true, and all the other stuff like bezel change, bezel change keys, background are set to "use_global"

I'm thinking I don't have the bezels in the correct place or something. I have them in C:\Hyperspin\Media\Mame\Images\Bezels

I created the folder Bezels and added it there, since I don't see a folder named Bezels anywhere.

I don't think that is it. Those settings are the bezel settings for HyperLaunch. HyperLaunch having its own bezel functionality which works with the all the emulators it supports. You want to disable those HyperLaunch bezel settings for MAME system settings so you can use the MAME bezels. I think this is where you are:

These settings would enable HyperLaunch's bezels and isn't what you want. Where you should be is here to enable the MAME settings:

That screen is found in HyperLaunchHQ>MAME>Emulators Tab>Edit Global Module Settings. Screenshot of that button is below:

Let me know how it goes because I am downloading the MAME extras as we speak.

Thanks for the reply. I just tried that, and enable all the bezels, but it still doesn't work, I even seen a place where you can add a rom and edit some features but that still doesn't work. I'm thinking that I don't have the bezels in the correct folder or something, or there's a spot that I don't see where I can select the bezel folder.

I'm off to work, i'll mess around with it some more tonight.

I have gotten mame bezels to work before I started using Hyperspin. Put the bezels directly in the "bezels" folder in your MAME folder as these bezels have nothing to do with the front end. Also keep your Hyperspin bezel settings the way they are. I havent tested this but I hope it helps

I have gotten the mame bezels to work also, but not with hyperspin. Which folder are you speaking of. I don't see a bezels folder in MAME, I also don't see one under hyperspin/media/MAME. I'm guessing I need to create the folder, I'm just not sure where to create it.

Bezels need to go in the artwork folder inside of your MAME emulator directory.

Recently I compiled MAME to show custom bezels I made with CPWizard when I pause MAME (so it shows the controls for the game when I pause). For whatever reason, enabling bezels inside of the mame.ini file and HyperlaunchHQ didn't work. When I turned bezels on inside of MAME itself, it only applied to that game I was playing. To get it to work I had to go a step further and put the parameter "-use_bezels" in the MAME module settings from inside of HyperlaunchHQ. Only then did it work for me.

Oh, and leave the artwork (bezels) compressed inside of the artwork folder. Don't uncompress or rename them.

So that is the question. Is this done from the HLHQ UI, if so, where? Or did you have to update the AHK script?

In HyperLaunchHQ: MAME from the list on the left, then Emulators tab on top. Click "Edit Global Module Settings" button near middle of window. Click the MAME tab, and in the "Params" box type: -use_bezels

As I said I had tried enabling bezels everywhere else without success, and the above did the trick for me finally. There may be another solution but hey it worked :).

Edit: I checked the global emulators.ini and I see the emulator that I'm trying to use "VisualBoyAdvanced-M", it also has the correct path to the emulator.

Thanks for the reply, I tried that and the bezels still don't show up. I been having quite a few issues. Been playing around with this for awhile. I'll keep trying, I upgraded to platinum to see if that helps since I think I'm missing some files. So far, I have MAME, Nintendo, Super Nintendo. When I tried adding Gameboy, that's when I noticed some modules missing. When I'm in global and on modules, I see the Gameboy modules, but when I click on Gameboy from the left menu and then try adding an emulator, there's none. I'm thinking it's a bad ahk file or something.

I downloaded sync cloud and clicked on the database update button but nothing seemed to have happened.

I'll keep messing around with this, I can't wait to fully understand how it works. First three systems were easy to install, and I now know the systems I can easily do, I just need to figure out how to add the emulators that doesn't show up in the list. To see the ones that I can do, all I do is click on modules up top in HyperLaunchHQ and then go thru the list of systems on the left. Many of the systems are blank and some that I don't plan on using have some modules. Weird.

Edit: I checked the global emulators.ini file and I see the correct emulator "VisualBoyAdvance-M". it's also showing the correct path to the emulator.

The bezels actually do work. I kept trying with the same game that I knew had the correct bezel. But that bezel wasn't in the folder with the other bezels since I was trying it in other folders and I guess I left it. I put the zip file back in the correct folder and it works :-) Thanks so much for the help on that.

Now I just need to figure out how to get the Gameboy to work.

Ok, now that i've gotten most things to work on hyperspin, i can now focus on certain parts. Bezelz being one of them. Instead of creating a new thread, i figured i'd post it here. Doing what was said in this thread, i was able to get the bezels to work on MAME thru hyperspin. But the bezels are way too big for the screen. I been playing around with the resolution but nothing seems to help. The bezels are working perfectly when i use MAME without hyperspin, but when using hyperspin, i don't see the bottom or top part of the bezels. I did a bunch of searching, and i see people mentioning changing some settings in the mame.ini file, but all i see is a spot where i can change the screen size. It showed 800 x 600 but i've changed it to 1024 x 768, and the bezel is still the same. Seen someone also post saying there should be a spot where it says keepaspect=1 and that i should change it to keepaspect=0, but i don't see that anywhere. I also don't see anything where i enabled the bezels in hyperlaunchHQ.

Hope someone knows the answer. Thanks

EDIT: nevermind, i figured it out. While i was changing the buttons for mortal kombat, i noticed there was a menu where it showed ename bezels, then it said view "cropped", i changed it to view "full" and all is good now. Things are a lil smaller, but i can see it all now :-) Now i'm going to play with the resolution some more and see if i can make things a bit bigger.

You utter genius. I ran into the same problem myself today. I thought I was doomed to another 2 weeks of forum begging for a solution. Thanks so much.

Incidentally, are there any other things you can change in that parameter box? I do like Hyperspin but I'm dismayed with how much it messes with MAME. For instance, I had a nice bloom effect in vector games that Hyperspin ignores. Also, some older games use coloured overlays, which are also missing.
