How Do You Filter

I've been using the great Dons HyperSpin List Generator and was wondering how do you filter your roms with it, for example do you use the Manufacturer or System colums or a combination of both is there a standard to go by, for example if you try to get all Cave or Neo Geo etc using either colum puts thing in you maybe don't want in or the oppisite, things not there you may want.

Any tips or ideas for whats the best way to filter your list.

I sync up the system with my emumovies account so that I have the videos. Pop them in the media folder. Then I bring up a full XML file for a particular system and go game by game through the list, initially excluding all then adding them one by one to the output list based on if I recognize the video or not.

It's a PITA but once done, I have "my" list of games from the thousands.
