kcorcoran Posted January 6, 2015 Posted January 6, 2015 Why is setting up a system so hard sometimes!?!?!?! There are 100 videos showing Jaguar running in HS.. and not a single setup guide. Did a forum search but questions are so specific and disjointed. HALP PLZ! Using HLHQ 1.0.13 I'll be happy to take a copy of your emulator, xml, ini, or whatever via FTP. Just want to get it running. Did I already beg for help? Well here it is again...
Fromlostdays Posted January 6, 2015 Posted January 6, 2015 Your question isn't very specific. You set up an emulator that runs it, there are a few, you set up your emulator and paths in HyperlaunchHQ, and you launch. At which point in this are you having problems? Walter:beerglass:
kcorcoran Posted January 6, 2015 Author Posted January 6, 2015 ok. sorry. I'm frustrated. So i have - Virtual Jaguar set up in HLHQ using the Virtual Jaguar (Global) emulator. - Rom Paths set up to point to my roms dir. - Games Audit shows all roms found. - Launching selected game in emulator from HLHQ brings up the emulator full screen but I get this... ...and it never moves past the Jaguar logo. maybe i need a different emulator?
kcorcoran Posted January 6, 2015 Author Posted January 6, 2015 I was able to get a rom or 2 running in the emulator outside of HS but nothing even remotely playable and basically looking like the above for most other games.
Fromlostdays Posted January 6, 2015 Posted January 6, 2015 First you should know that jaguar emulation isn't perfect. In fact, it's pretty bad. What you posted above does not look like a Hyperspin or Hyperlaunch problem. Next, you should certainly consider not just trying another emulator, but trying to set up all of them that there is a module for. I say this because they may have different compatibility with different games. It will require testing. I did just a little testing and Retroarch with the relevant core seems to run this system the best. But even still there were all kinds of odd things, like missing visuals or sounds. Having said all that, you can play many of these games. But you have to do the legwork on Jaguar emulators, there is no one solution unfortunately. I'll help you in any way I can. Edit afterthought: I'm not at my computer but did you open the virtual jaguar module up in HQ and see if it required any additional paths, like a bios or anything like that? Walter:beerglass:
kcorcoran Posted January 6, 2015 Author Posted January 6, 2015 Thanks for the answer. I wasn't aware of the state of jaguar emulation so this makes some sense. I'd be happy to boil my Jaguar wheel down to a couple of games that actually work. I just picked up a version of RA and accompanying module that is supposed to work for Jaguar so as soon as Direct X is done installing I'll give it a go.
Fromlostdays Posted January 6, 2015 Posted January 6, 2015 Hey I just checked this site out: https://icculus.org/virtualjaguar/ And it has a compatibility list. You can see a lot of the games may be bonky and or require additional files. And another interesting thing, it says there are apparently some bad dumps of games going around. Something else to think about. You got me thinking now because I had no idea virtual jag was still under development. When I did the little testing, I was using an old version. I'll certainly be checking this out. Walter:beerglass:
rexryan Posted January 6, 2015 Posted January 6, 2015 tested mine with a dozens games no issues running module2.0
zerojay Posted January 7, 2015 Posted January 7, 2015 I found that I've had to resort to a mix of Project Tempest and Virtual Jaguar to get (most) playable.
kcorcoran Posted January 7, 2015 Author Posted January 7, 2015 I'm fine with a mix of emulators. I read 9n atari age where VJ was still in dev so i grabbed it. maybe my rims are crap. I think i got them in a big torrent on BT which had all cart systems. there aren'tthat many maybe II'll try a different set.
kcorcoran Posted January 7, 2015 Author Posted January 7, 2015 So I got retroarch running with Virtual Jaguar core. Emulation seems pretty slow maybe 25-26 fps? Running Athon x64 dual core @ 2.6ghz with 1.5 gb ram on xp64 Now that it's set up maybe i can try a different core in RA and see if that changes anything. Thanks everyone...

kcorcoran Posted January 7, 2015 Author Posted January 7, 2015 got retroarch set up last night outside of, then inside HS with the virtual jaguar core. only tested doom and tempest but emulation seems very slow.. maybe 25-26 fps. Running Athon x64 dual core @ 2.6ghz with 1.5 gb ram on xp64 Now that it's set up, maybe I can try it with a different jaguar core to see if that helps. thanks everyone!

zerojay Posted January 9, 2015 Posted January 9, 2015 Use Project Tempest for Doom, Tempest and Wolfenstein. EDIT: Actually, here's my Games.ini for you: [Doom (World)]Emulator=Project Tempest System= [Wolfenstein 3D (World)] Emulator=Project Tempest System= [ultra Vortek (World)] Emulator=Project Tempest System= [Val d'Isere Skiing and Snowboarding (World)] Emulator=Project Tempest System= [Cybermorph (World) (Rev 2)] Emulator=Project Tempest System= Tempest should now be fast enough in Virtual Jaguar, if not, fall back to PT.
kcorcoran Posted January 9, 2015 Author Posted January 9, 2015 This may sound like a dumb question but how can i set up games from the same system (jaguar) to be on the same wheel but use different emulators like we're talking about here
kcorcoran Posted January 9, 2015 Author Posted January 9, 2015 So THAT'S what that tab is for. SWEEEEET
DrMaxwell Posted January 11, 2015 Posted January 11, 2015 retroarch will run those games if you tweak the core settings and config so that you have threaded video and scaled resolution of 1:1 How to guides and custom artwork sets @ https://www.youtube.com/user/MaxwellParadigm Themes, Wheels, Carts and Database Downloads available @ http://spacevalkyrie.weebly.com/
