drshaw Posted July 5, 2012 Posted July 5, 2012 I've updated to HyperSpin 1.2. I've installed and configured HyperLaunch 2.24b. I've "downgraded" my Nestopia from v1.40 to v1.39. I've played with some settings inside the NES.ahk Module like: Sleep, 500 WinWait, ahk_class Nestopia WinActivate, ahk_class Nestopia WinWaitActive, ahk_class Nestopia The only wheel that seems to be affected is my Nintendo Wheel. SNES, N64, ATARI, SEGA* and MAME(which I don't even use HyperLaunch) all seem to "quiet" HyperSpin when I launch a title. NES though keeps HyperSpin running in the background and I can hear the intro emumovie going in the background. The interesting thing about the NES wheel though, is when I launch a game, for some reason, it's almost like the controller "UP" is pressed because the intro movie in the background is for the title just above the title that I launched. When I return to HyperSpin, the title above the launched title is now the one in focus. With the other wheels, HyperSpin stays selected on the title that I launch. I've checked my Settings.ini as well as my Nintendo Entertainment System.ini files and can't seem to find anything there that looks different compared to the other emulators. With all my searching, there is one other person saying the same thing (but I'm not doing fade-in/fade-out and it still seems to happen even with HyperLaunch being disabled): http://www.hyperspin-fe.com/forum/showthread.php?10709-HyperLaunch-2-x-Released&p=183624#post183624 Any ideas? I'm pulling my hair out.
drshaw Posted July 6, 2012 Author Posted July 6, 2012 I don't know if it helps or not, but I deleted my Nestopia.XML file and tried launching titles like that. Nestopia seems to launch without issue... HyperSpin stops responding and it doesn't focus on the title above. But Nestopia is only in windowed mode. I need to play around with it some more but I think the only thing I did was select the option to start in full screen mode, unchecked the "auto" on monitor refresh rate, I unchecked the "confirm on exit" and then I set the "exit" key to escape. Only those 4 changes and the problem happened again. I'm quitting tonight but maybe tomorrow I'll delete the XML again, launch it without so the default one is created, then I'll only change it to start in full screen and see if the problem happens.
drshaw Posted July 6, 2012 Author Posted July 6, 2012 I'm just documenting this in case other people have the same issue. After disabling the "spinner" and the "Trackball" in HyperHQ -- I no longer had the issue of the controller pushing "Up" when launching from the NES wheel. But still, HyperSpin remains active in the background and the movie sound from Hyperspin is heard over the top of the launched title. This only happens in Nestopia "Full Screen" mode. I switched emulators to Jnes and the problem goes away, although there are some other drawbacks that I'm working with. Basically, I'm not sure what changed, but this seems to be a emulator issue with Nestopia more than anything else :/ I settled on FCEUX and everything works perfectly. Very weird that Nestopia would just start having this issue.......... Anyways, this will end my rant.
djvj Posted July 6, 2012 Posted July 6, 2012 Thanks for posting your findings. I know others have had this problem but never went through the extent you have documented here. Hopefully this helps others troubleshoot similar issues. m714w Posted May 3, 2014 Posted May 3, 2014 I see that I have the same issues, both the issue with the controller pushing up to the next title above, after selecting a game to play. The other after selecting emulator (MAME) ,Hyperspin stays open in the background with the emu movies playing behind the game. do we know the cause other than the above resolutions ?
Agrajag Posted May 3, 2014 Posted May 3, 2014 Until the bug is fixed in a future update that we are all praying for, HyperSpin can only be reliably controlled using a keyboard, or simulation thereof (iPac, Xpadder, Joy2Key etc), so you need to disable joypad/stick, trackball and spinner controls in HyperHQ.
