whirlybird7
I've noticed a lot of people keep their roms individually zipped. Is this necessary? I understand with MAME and other arcade roms they must remain zipped due to multiple files for 1 game, but do I need to do this with NES, SNES, N64? If not, what's the reasoning behind leaving them zipped?
dougan78
To save hard drive space that is about it. Game on!
Undertow76
I only zip small roms like etc. Nes, Snes, Sega Genesis, N64, The cartridge based roms to save space. But I normally like to keep my ISO based roms unzipped for a faster read, and for things to run faster and smoother! That is basically what I prefer due to my computer specs. Styphelus
To save space. Saved me close to 800GB, believe it or not.
whirlybird7
If you have a large system and need to save space it works well with the big disc based games. However downside is then you gotta wait a while for them to decompress. This will not be a huge issue for me as I'm only looking to play roms on consoles no higher than N64, as well as MAME.
