I have been meaning to complete my Hyperspin for awhile now. Have a few days off and thought I would finally finish it up with my PlayStation section pretty much the only thing missing. I can't figure out for the life of me how to get some of the video games to work. I'm using epsxe, made my own xml list, used the new hypertools to rename the video games and manually match the titles. Checked HyperLaunch HQ to see what video games come up as green and ready to go. When testing these games they never work. I get the black screen where I am force to escape out. However, testing these games through the emulator outside of Hyperspin, they work fine.

I'm not sure what to do. Let's use Final Fantasy VII for example. I have a folder within the folder titled what it should be in my XML list (already renamed using the rom renamer) contents inside would look something like "Final Fantasy VII Disc 1.cue" along with "Final Fantasy VII Disc 1.bin".

Any ideas what I should be doing?

A) You do not want a bunch of nested folders for your games.

B) If you are renaming disc based games that have a cue sheet, you will have to make sure that your new names are edited in the cue sheet to match.

Okay, so would this be right. Rom folder > Game Name.cue Game Name.bin ? What would I do if there happens to be multiple .bin files, I think I read somewhere about multiple tracks for psx games.

That looks fine. You just have to make sure that the file names in the CUE match up to the file names your games are using.

The latest version of ePSXe (1.9.25) handles multiple bin file games no problems. I am using ePSXe myself and just ran 3D Lemmings which has 24 bin files and 1 cue to check.

Taking for example your Final Fantasy. Mine is set up as follows:

Two files:

Final Fantasy VII (USA) (Disc 1).bin

Final Fantasy VII (USA) (Disc 1).cue

These two files are inside a folder called:

Final Fantasy VII (USA) (Disc 1)

Also make sure to set it up in HyperHQ to search subfolders and to look for and read/load the cue file as the extension, not the bin.

Make sure Daemon Tools enabled is set to false under Sony Playstation 1 settings in HypelaunchHQ and that use SCSI is set to true.

That sounds seriously complicated.

Just have "FInal Fantasy VII (USA) (Disc 1).zip with inside just your .cue and.bin files without any folders, and it should perfectly work. It sure does for me. (make sure the .cue file is correct, try to load the .cue file with daemon tools first.)

They don't need to be in individual folders if you think it's to much work. You can keep them all in one folder.

Is it just a few games not loading? It could also be your cue file is not set right. Open up the cue file in a text editor and make sure "game name" matches the game.bin name.

I could be wrong as well, I haven't done this for multi bin file games.

The latest version of ePSXe (1.9.5) handles multiple bin file games no problems. I am using ePSXe myself and just ran 3D Lemmings which has 24 bin files and 1 cue to check.

Final Fantasy VII (USA) (Disc 1).bin

Make sure Daemon Tools enabled is set to false under Sony Playstation 1 settings in HypelaunchHQ and that use SCSI is set to true.

Thank you! This worked out perfectly.

No problems.

You can also take it one step further and zip all the rom folders individually to save HDD space as well. It will add to load time though depending on the initial file size.

Whatever method you use to compress them (7z,zip,rar etc), just remember to make sure the extension is added at the start of the list of recognised rom extensions in both HyperHQ for PS1 and Hyperlaunch for the ePSXe emulator.
