kenshutt97 Posted March 28, 2015 Posted March 28, 2015 Using AAE as the emulator, it launches the game, but I can't set any joystick controls Using MAME as the emulator, it tries to launch and the window just goes away. Using Retroarch, it just loads to select core options. What am I missing? is there a bios file that I'm not seeing that I should place? I have quite a few mame/retroarch systems that are working.
iNTiGOD Posted March 28, 2015 Posted March 28, 2015 I have AAE setup. Are you saying AAE won't save your controls after you have configure them (tab key)? Have you launched AAE outside of hyper launch and hyperspin then tried configuring your controls then? Some emulators don't save their settings when launched via hyperlaunch. kenshutt97 Posted March 28, 2015 Author Posted March 28, 2015 When I try to configure my Joystick, it says "coming soon". Can you configure a joystick or gamepad?
iNTiGOD Posted March 29, 2015 Posted March 29, 2015 I'm away from my PC at the moment.... I might be using xpadder for this system. /just checked.... Yes I have xpadder setup to remap the keys for my gamepad. MAME High Score Tutorial For HyperSpin
SIMPLYAUSTIN Posted March 29, 2015 Posted March 29, 2015 MAME actually plays AAE much better than the EMU now. Plus with HLSL it looks almost like the original too.... very nice Simply Austin's YouTube

I'm gonna wait until my pc gets upgraded before attempting to add hlsl as I heard it needs some cpu grunt. MAME High Score Tutorial For HyperSpin

rexryan Posted March 29, 2015 Posted March 29, 2015 i remember when i set this up to get it to work in hyperspin you have to remove the # sign in the settings.

rexryan Posted March 29, 2015 Posted March 29, 2015 in your emulator folder under the AAE ini. It's listed as a module note always try to follow them to get the to launch in hyperspin.

Sorry, I thought you meant for MAME. I have it working using the AAE emulator, but I wish to NOT use AAE, but rather Mame. AAE doesn't allow joysticks to be configured. I want to get MAME to work with my AAE roms.

rexryan Posted March 29, 2015 Posted March 29, 2015 Definately watch his vids.. Class act and well explained.
kenshutt97 Posted March 29, 2015 Author Posted March 29, 2015 Hey Austin. I've seen just about all of your videos I think. I don't see or recall anything with AAE. I have MAME working fine with normal Mame roms and other systems that use MAME, but I just can't get it to work with AAE. When switching it to mame in HL, it just flashes and nothing happens. AAE loads with AAE emulator, but not Mame emulator
SIMPLYAUSTIN Posted March 29, 2015 Posted March 29, 2015 If you have the current version of HyperlaunchHQ and you have MAME already installed is point the ROMS bit in AAE to your MAME roms folder and choose MAME as the default emulator for it. Everything in AAE is included in MAME. Only thing in theory it needs is the database to make it work Simply Austin's YouTube

Everything in AAE is included in MAME. Only thing in theory it needs is the database to make it work Current version of HyperLaunch HQ (v1.1.1.3). AAE is on the left in system list. Rom path is set to ..\ROMS\AAE. Default Emulator set to MAME. On the Games tab for AAE, Audit shows all games as green Mame Module is set using djvj version for Mame 0.159, which is the Mame version I'm using. Module version 2.1.6, which is most up to date that I see. (came with hyperlaunch) Mame.ini is in modules, which is the same as the mame example that was included. Database for AAE is listed in Databases\AAE. it's using version 1.0. Roms are in the directory that hyperlaunch is pointing to. Make is set to read zip and 7z and just in case, i put AAE. The roms are in .zip format. When I click launch from hyperlaunch on any of the games, MAME just flashes and closes immediately.
SIMPLYAUSTIN Posted March 29, 2015 Posted March 29, 2015 Set Rom path to /ROMS/MAME or wherever your MAME 0.159 version of MAME roms are.... thats the point.... it uses MAME roms with AAE Its more simple than you think Everything is set exactly the same way you run MAME only the artwork and the xml would be dif If you have a complet MAME ROM set these come with all the games AAE has. So you do not even need not only and Emu, but the roms either. You already have/had them with your MAME setup... same goes for Zinc Neo Geo CAVE etc etc etc... Simply Austin's YouTube

WTH. Thank you so much. I can't believe this was causing me so much stress. I guess I just didn't really understand what AAE was as a system. Thanks so much!!!!

Took me a few times to get my head around it all.... thats why in my vids I make it so important to get some core systems installed...
