The HyperSpin 2 early access beta is here!

We’re starting the first public testing phase with Platinum Members to keep the scope manageable while we test the current feature set and begin to add more. In the future, we’ll provide a version for basic members as well.  On behalf of the entire HyperSpin team, we look forward to another exciting adventure with our community.

New build problems, will not enter subwheels

Hello Friends,

I just built my 3rd HyperSpin machine. This is the first mini-itx build I've done. I'm running Windows 8.1 which is up to date. Here are the specs:

-MSI AM1motherboard

-4GB DDR3 1600 RAM

-AMD  Athlon 5350 APU

-1 TB WD blue

-300w ITX PSU

-InWin mini ITX case

A friend of mine wanted a cheap console just to handle the cartridge based systems which I thought an APU should be able to handle quite well. It is a little jittery, though, so I'll likely put a cheap card in it. I would appreciate hardware advice on a MiniITX build but that's not my main question here.

Anyway, the main problem I'm having is with HyperSpin itself. I set up 11 systems, mapped all ROMS and vids to the proper paths, did the same in HyperLaunch mapping everything to the proper emulators and did a full audit which showed all games discovered. However, when I launch Hyperspin, it is not working properly. The video seems to stutter which may just be a lack of video power. I thought it would be fine the HD 8400 APU but I may have miscalculated. Thoughts here would be appreciated. The bigger problem is that even though everything is mapped and games show up in audit, if I try to enter any of the systems to see the games, it just jumps back to MAME on the main wheel. I can't get into any of the systems. Also, when I press escape to exit, it doesn't exit or give you the exit screen. It just pauses all the animation on screen. I've never seen anything like it. I've checked my controll settings and everything is at default. Any help anyone may have would be greatly appreciated! Thanks!

Hi,

Sounds like you have rom filtering enabled in HyperHQ and your path or extensions are wrong.

Post your HyperSpin log and it will tell that much.

Thanks,

Ron

Hmmmm. I'm pretty sure of my paths. I thought I had all of my filters turned off and my extensions in place. I will go back and check them and see if I can get a copy of my log. Thanks Ron!

John,

To be specific, I am talking about the paths and extensions in HyperHQ and not in HyperLaunchHQ.  ;)

Thanks,

Ron

Yes, Ron. Thanks. I mapped the paths correctly in both HyperHQ and HyperLaunch HQ. All of my extensions are correct in both places as well. Separated by the | and everything. An audit recognizes all games. Every console is doing the same. I took a video of what's happening but can't figure out how to upload it. Anyway, it will not enter any subwheels. Even stranger, once Hyperspin is up, I can't get an exit menu to close it. If I hit the escape key (which is the default for exit, I checked it), it basically pauses hyperspin. Meaning everything in the UI, animations and all, just freezes. I have to launch in a window rather than full screen so I can navigate to the desktop and force close it. I've tried brand new installs, version 1.3.2 & 1.3.3. Same thing no matter what. I have an install on Windows 8.1 and don't see how that can be the problem. I've even uninstalled IE 11 because I know that has a ways of messing up everything under the sun. No help. Very strange.

Also, I checked the filters and there are none. Out of HyperLaunch HQ, I can launch any game just fine and the emulators work. There's just something crazy going on with the HyperSpin Front end itself. I've never seen anything like it.

Thanks again for helping.

That does sound strange.

Post your HyperSpin log using code tags please.

In HyperHQ, the separator for extensions should be a comma not a pipe.  In HyperLaunchHQ it is a pipe "|".

Also be sure to not include the period in the extension.  But this is all academic if you are not filtering.

Thanks,

Ron

volumetric, thanks! You'r the best! I would have never thought it would have anything to do with speakers not being plugged in. I have this hooked up to a monitor right now for configuring and plan on moving it to a TV when it's done. But yeah, that fixed it. Now I have other issues. Lol.
