HyperList won't create .XML file

So I've:

Downloaded the official xml

Placed that in Hyperspin/Databases/mame.

Load the XML file in Don's HyperList

Click Generate

It launches hyperspin?

When I quit out of hyperspin, it looks like it's working on creating the xml for a while, then it creates a 0kb mamelist.xml file.

It's worked for me before, no reason why it's having this behavior now.

Any ideas?

I'm a little confused by your post, so Hyperlist is launching HyperSpin?

Are you attempting to create your own xml by stripping out games you don't want? There are up to date xmls in jumpstiles and brollys ftp folder if that would suffice.

I do know you need to add emu and maybe Rom paths to Hyper HQ for aspects of Hypertools to work.

Trust me, I'm confused about what is happening as well.

If I launch hyperspin, I can select mame, select a game, and it will play (barring I have the ROM.)

However when I run Don's Hyperlist, load the .xml file I download, select Mame for the wheel, click generate.. it goes and starts Hyperspin.

I have no idea why it does this.  In fact it used to work before.

I guess I could grab a file off the fTP, but that kind of defeats the purpose of making a custom list based on the games that you actually have in your folder.

Perhaps in HyperHQ under Mame wheel you have set the emulator path to point to the HyperSpin exe instead of Mame ?

You know you can set Hyperspin to only show the Roms you have right? You do that by checking the Roms only wheel filter.

I'm having this same issue. I have my HyperHQ set to point to RocketLauncher and when I tell Don's Hyperlist Tools to generate a mamelist.xml it loads RocketLauncher. This started since I just updated Don's Hyperlist Tools.

Again in HyperHQ what are your paths for Mame pointing to? If you're on HS 1.3.3 and you used the transition tool that may be the problem.
