How can I prefer connected Controllers?

Is there a way to prefer a PS4 controller to the other xBox360 controllers?

As example if PS4 controller not connected:

P1: xbox / P2: xbox

or if he's connected:

P1: PS4 / P2: xbox

and how can I handle that? There is another fightstick arround here:

P1: fightstick / P2: PS4 or xbox

all the above named controllers are as a Xpadder configuration file stored. Hyperlaunch

What do you mean, should I have to separate the two xBox360 controllers to costum names?

I never knew about this feature.  So what does it do exactly?  If you have the controls set in the emulator anyways, does this offer any added benefit?
